I've got H4350 and H4381sc and have some 150gr Sierra GameKing bullets due to arrive tomorrow. Any suggestions on which of the two powders and a recipe or two to try would be appreciated. I also, have a little Varget and BLC-(2). I'm trying to get something worked up before Saturday Opening Firearms day. Hopefully I can get it done if not, I guess I'll have to buy a box of ammo. I'd rather use one of my own rolled rounds though! :)

I use 57 grains of IMR 4350 with a Speer 150 grain boat tail. You could work up to that load with the H4350 and the Sierra 150 grain bullet. I've also heard others say a load of 51.5 grains of Varget is good with a 150 grain bullet. 51 grains of IMR 4064 51 with a 150 grain Speer boat tail is a great load and the Varget load is similar to IMR 4064. Good luck with your reloading. BW

Don't know what kind of gun you are shooting but my Rem700 ADL, 1978 model shoots MOA with this recipe:

RP Brass
CCI 200 LR primers
150 grain Sierra Gameking boat tails
IMR 4350
55.5 grains
2807 FPS

Try it, you'll like it.

Thanks for the recipes and advice folks the rifle is a Browning X Bolt Hunter model. :)

I get < .5 moa with H4831SC and SGK 180 in my 30-06 Browning ABolt. Great combo, 3 deer killed this season with this load. Never tried the 150s.

57 grains of h4350 under a 150grain spirepoint or boat tail (I use hornady) is a magical combo out of a remington 700 30-06...

Try 58 grains of h4350 or 60.5 of h4831 with the 150 bt. Gets close to 3000 fps out of a 24" barrel with good groups.

I would go with the faster of the two, 4350 at 55 ... 56g. 4831 works great for heavy bullets (180G). Some say IMR4350 is the best for 165g. Try em both and see what happens! IMR 4064 and 4895 are what I like for 150g.

I like IMR-4350 and RL19. I don't recall off the top of my head what charge weights, and since your starting from scratch your going to need to do a load developement process anyway to find the sweet spot, regardless of the powder you use.

I load 57.0gr H4350 under a 165/168gr Sierra bullet. When i do load 150gr bullets I usually use a faster powder like 4895 and IMR4064. IMO the two powders you listed are too slow for loading 150gr bullets.

I've been loading 57 grains of IMR 4350 under a 150 gr Nosler Ballistic tip for my Rem 700 for 20 years. It shoots 100 yard 3 shot groups that are usually touching...I never needed to look further for a better load.

Mid to upper load of either IMR or H-4350 and playing with the seating depth a tad should have you shooting bug holes in no time.

I load IMR under the 150gr Solid Base and CL and both have shot under 1" at 200yds from several different '06s. Like was mentioned just something magical about it I guess. It is about the only 06 load I shoot anymore.

How long is your rifle barrel?

I think the faster burning powders will give you more economical and just as accuate loads as the slower powders. If the barrel is shorter then the faster powderwill be a best bet.
