Has anyone run across any good deals lately on 45 acp bullets for practice? I'm looking for 1000 to 2500 at this time and would prefer no lead. Thanks in advance for any help.

1500 Speer 230g bullets for $114. This includes shipping. These are what we buy for practice ammo. :)
Now that sure is strange. I was just on his site five minutes ago looking at those and came here to see if I could find anything about them. I got to his site from eBay where he had a feedback rating of 98%+ and over a 600 count on his feedback. His prices looked pretty good to me. I'm going to need some more 45ACP and some 38/357 by the end of the month. How do you rate the bullets and the service, AllisonDT?

Edit - They have the 230 gr TMJ Speer bullets at $111 shipped.

While you said "no lead", you may want to look into Precision Bullets. They have a dry lube coated lead bullet that is phenomenal with a low price. They offer 'case' pricing using the USPS Priority Mail flat rate box. I use their 200gr SWC bullets at $133 for 2250. If you prefer 230gr RN, the price is $130 for 2000. Shipping included.

I have heard of the precision bullet but did not know much about it. So its lead but has a lube on it? Does it smoke a lot and are they the same color as a lead bullet or a copper color such as rainier, ect?

The picture of the bullets on the pricing page is misleading. I'm guessing the person who took the pictures left the flash on. The bullets are almost black in color and not grey like a lead bullet. The bullets have what they call a dry lube hard coating. It doesn't really come off on your hands when handling. They do not smoke.

If you look at the melted bullet photos on their web page, you'll get an idea of how strong the outer coating is compared to lead.

Thanks for the info. It is mis leading that is why I asked about the color being black according to their info. Sorry for all the dumb questions but are these considered lead or plated? The ranges I shoot at won't allow any lead and if it looks funny to them they will not let me shoot them!!

I shoot Ranier 185gr HPs - $38/500 at MidwayUSA. Put 'em on top of 6.2gr of Bullseye and you have a decent practice load that can also be carried if needed.

Check out Cabela's. They offer good prices on Rainiers and you save on their shipping charges. They charge by price, not weight.

Honestly, they're probably going to consider it lead. I guess you'll have to go with a plated or FMJ bullet.

Black Hills Shooting Supply has some great prices on Raniers, but you need to have an FFL (or C&R) to order from them.

You can also look into Golden West. They make true FMJ bullets. I've used their 9mm in 124 and 147 and their .223 in 55. I found them to be pretty good. They are based in California and only recently put up a website (apparently they have case pricing). I haven't ordered from them online before. In the past, I've always just driven to their location. Good people.

Berry's Manufacturing

You may want to try Berry's for plated bullets. Their quality is first rate and the prices are reasonable, besides being really nice people to deal with. You can find them at www.berrysmfg.com.

Hope this helps.

I just ordered 1500 Speer FMJ (TMJ) bullets from the Bullet Guy link above for $111. That's $37/500.

Delivered!

I got an email stating they shipped yesterday. If these turn out to be what I think they are, I'm ordering another 10K (minimum).

I used to buy West Coast Bullets at 7000 bullets per order to get this price, and the delivery charge was extra (total was closer to $45/500).

These are real FMJ bullets at a lead price. Now if you don't buy them, that's fine...leaves more for me and my buddies. :neener:

-yeah, if you were wanted lead hard cast bullets, I could hook you up with .452 200gr swc for $40/1000 in the Okla city area.
-quality lead bullets, too.

ZERO Bullets

They offer hard cast and plated bullets post paid

That's why I request my order to be shipped by US Mail. $8.10 bulk pack to 70lbs. Can't beat that deal.
