Ignore portion of the poll about LEAD RELOADS. I will NOT be using lead reloads so please give Glock equal footing in that respect.

I'm trying to decide on my next purchase in 9mm. I'm looking for a really good range and plinking gun.

Please limit comments to those mentioned in poll (but see, above). I'll be shooting a lot of handloads. Keep in mind that IPSC/IDPA would be a consideration, also, in making a selection. Anyway, your comments are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

I voted for the PT92! Very accurate, very dependable, should last you thousands and thousands of rounds for years, and it has a lifetime warrenty so 25 years from now when its had over 50,000 rounds if something should happen to break, Taurus will fix it for free ;)

It's not on the list but I would go with a cz75b of some sort. I own a glock 17 by the way. Mark

railroader-

Why didn't you vote, and vote for the Glock? thanks-I have a CZ-75B in .40 and I really like it. It has an ambidextrous manual safety.

As for 9mm, being a southpaw, I want ambi-safety and the CZ in 9mm does not have. So, CZ is OUT. Besides, I'd like a 92Fs, PT-92, or Desert Baby Eagle, or a Glock.

I am changing the poll in the sense that I will consider a Glock and will just avoid lead bullets with that one.

CZ85 Combat:D I own both a CZ75 & a G19, and the CZ will outshoot the Glock in anybodys hands(people I shoot with) The CZ85 is a 75 with ambi controles. A buddy just bought a BE9, and its a very good shooter, I cant comment on the other guns in your poll.

Another vote for a CZ-75/85/P0-1/SP-01

They will be very competitive pricewise for what you're looking at. They're very accurate and reliable.

I'll throw the Ruger P89 out there too, i'm still trying to decide between that and the CZ, either one is great for what you want to do from what I've learned.

I vote for Desert Baby Eagle. Because the baby eagle is a fine CZ-75 clone with italian parts and assembled in israel. Finish of baby eagle other name Jericho is better as CZs

Blue 92fs

...

From what I know of Beretta's, and the 92's, outstanding platform, very accurate right out of NIB.

Many different grip options, (wood grips with a Blue 92.. :what:) and they keep going and going, and going, @ 100% without failures.

Last, but not least, they are one of the easiest guns, If Not the easiest to field strip, inspect, clean, and reassemble out there, bar none.

And, on a personal note, I think they are one of the sexist gun designs out there for 9mm, besides the Px4's.. ;)

Enjoy what ever you end up choosing..

PS.. and Ed, if you live close to the city of Orange, take a look at Evans Gunsmithing/Shooters World (Inside shooting range) located at 1637 N. Brian Street, Orange, CA. 92867, and feel free to PM me if and when you get your new gun, and you can be my guest there, anytime. They allow JHP's, double taps, and have no problem if you want to keep your brass, as well as any weapon education/instruction you may desire, and new ammo if you run dry.. lol

CZ 75B Stainless. Has an ambi safety. I was handling one just the other day. Holy cow that's a good gun. Just feels right. Will shoot +P all day. Snotty accurate guns with hot ammo, esp. w/ Hornady XTP bullets.

Failing that, the Beretta Inox.

The Israeli CZ clones have never thrilled me. Don't like the layout or styling as much as the Czech originals.

Between those posted in your poll, I'd pick the Glock. One constant trigger pull from beginning to end, highly modifiable (even a word?), cheap, reliable, and no decocking/safety to fumble with. One HUGE plus to mention, since you'll be doing some light competition is the trigger reset out of the box is really short. A 3.5# connector and lighter springs will drop that trigger weight for only a few bucks.

An excellent platform.

Thanks for responses thus far. Future responders should kindly limit their comments to those choices in the poll. I have a CZ-75B in .40. Though I really like it, I want a different gun in 9mm. Thanks!

You have a good list, just as a reminder you may want to check the Baby Eagle doesn't have polygonal rifling's like your glock, some have them some don't, mine does. I personally go with all steel for a range gun, and probably one of the Taurus' if it were me, just for the price. Taurus is overlook too often and they make some very decent weapons at a great price.
Good Luck!

My three choices are not on the list.

Browning Hi Power
CZ-75B
HK P7PSP or P7M8

Lonestar-

If that invitation was for me-Ted-thank you for it, but I live a bit south of you in San Diego.
Also, you have your settings so that I am unable to email or PM you.
