looking for a .22 plinker

I was also looking for a "knock about" gun to use for plinking and pest control.
I found that even used name brand .22s command a pretty hefty price. I found this in a local shop for a reasonable price and took a chance. The 990/991 Taurus are solid guns with a decent trigger that improves with use. I think that you can find a Taurus 94 for less money but, it is much less gun. Expect to pay a bit over $300 for a blue model.

I would suggest getting a 22 revolver with adjustable sights. Sometimes point of aim and point of impact can be far off from each other. Take a look at the Rossi brand. If noise is a problem, you can shoot shorts, cb or bb type 22 ammunition in a revolver.

I glommed onto a new Heritage Rough Rider this summer took it out to the range, and let two of my buddies try it out, one got himself one ,and his son liked it so much ,he had to have one also. The other fellow lucked into a german made S.A. .22 for cheap and snapped that one up. I guess I started a small fad among my shooting buddies , we all got S.A. .22 pistols this summer . Years ago I ran across a used High Standard "Marshall 9 shot D.A .22 and got it for $ 85.00 that one is fun as well, but there is something about loading and firing a single action that is satifying to me ,that and a lever action rifle make for a satifying day at the range.

I have or have personally owned

Revolvers
Pietta 1873 (full size 9 shot) with 22/22mag cylinders, lcr in 22mag, ruger single six, Heritage .22 with lr and mag cylinders, H&R 922

Semis
Ruger SR22, Beretta NEOS, walther p22,

and I hve shot many others

all .22s are fun to shoot, but the kids always want to shoot either the Pietta or Beretta (no rhyme intended) when we go out.

They also like the BP guns, but those are not .22s

YMMV
