.17 or .22??

Hello all.
I am wanting a small cal revolver for a plinker and seldomly a BUG. I am looking at Taurus' .17 or .22. Any thoughts on the 2, as in, which would be better for plinking and more fun to shoot? I personally really like the .17 HMR round. I am also in the market for a mini .22 mag (such as Charter or NAA) as well. Any suggestions on what is a good price for those??

I would think for plinking, a revolver in .22 LR would be more economical since the ammo for the .17 Mag or the .22 Mag is very expensive when compared to a brick of .22 LR.

22 lr's out of a handgun have a trajectory like a stone. .22wmr's can get you some better trajectory, but usually not stellar accuracy. The .17hmr will give both better accuracy and trajectory. But........... before you make your final decision, consider some heper velocity .22lrs. I've been shooting some 30 grain Aguila's that are getting .22wmr trajectory and better accuracy. And, a whole lot cheaper than the 17 or 22wmr's.

Who knows how long the .17 caliber fad will last? Get the .22lr over 100 years and still going strong. you can get ..22 ammo at any backwater bait shop or general store.
