Looking for some "light" and quiet to use for 9mm, 223 and 300 whisper carbines and maybe also pistol down the road.

Are some quieter than others? Better construction? Easy cleaning?

What do you recommend?

Good staff, they will steer you in the right direction.

I can't really help. I got rifle cans, I got pistol cans, I got rimfire cans, they all designed differently. What works best for a low velocity pistol round is not good for a high velocity rifle round and vice versa. Don't know of a do it all can, but they might.

Unless you are talking about a rimfire can, "light" and "quiet" are sort of opposites.

You will need a rifle can to handle the pressure of the 223. I have heard of some pistol cans that will handle .300 Blackhawk subsonic so that might give you some versatility between 9mm and .300.

A common approach with the rifle can is to buy a .30 caliber can and use it for .223. Some of the .30 caliber cans have interchangeable endcaps that allow you to install a 5.56 end cap for the "sub caliber". Examples include the Silencerco Omega and the Rugged Surge 762. A friend has the Surge and we could not tell a lot of difference on the .223 between the two endcaps.

There are some YouTube channels with some pretty good reviews and comparisons of the various suppressors, including Twang n' Bang, NFA Review Channel, Capitol Armory and (of course) Silencer Shop.

The liberty mystic and the 45 caliber bigger brother the cosmic, the silencerco hybrid, and the Griffin Optimus are the only cans rated for 9 and 223 that I know of. If you need it to come apart for cleaning because you shoot lead, liberty is the only game in town.

Thanks so far guys. Maybe I need to drop the 223 off of the equation and look for a good 9mm can.

My cousin has the mystic for 9mm and blackout. For whatever reason, he has had several baffle strikes using lead bullets. it is probably all him, and Liberty has taken great care of him, but he recommends getting a 45 can over a 9. The top 4 on my list are the deadair ghost, octane 45, rugged obsidian, and the Griffin revolution.

Not disputing that the are good people (I don't know) but there are a lot of very popular brands they don't sell. I know that Silencerco dropped them as a reseller, so if you want a Hybrid you won't get it from them---and Hybrid is a can that's supposed to be able to handle all those calibers. Although it's not serviceable...

My LGS has a Hybrid. It was a little to big and bulky for me, for the way I want to run it.

Just from what I have looked at online, looks like it is narrowed down to the Mystic, TiRant, Octane and Osprey, unless something else comes in from left field......

Seems to me that its best to have 3 cans. .22lr, .30 and .45. That would cover most all bases. Besides, its really annoying to have to keep swapping silencers between guns. I personally dont like handgun silencers. They basically defeat the entire purpose of a handgun, concealment/size.

Main use right now would be to go on a 9mm carbine. Maybe play with it on a handgun somewhere down the road.
