Looking for a carry 9mm

My daily beater is a CZ PCR, I chose it over 2 of the best compact pistols ever, the Glock G19 and a SIG P229, I have another great carry weapon in the SIG P239.

MrIzhevsk, there IS a CZ semi compact pistol you can, indeed, switch from decocker to safety, yourself, in about ten minutes either way, the CZ P-07. It is a semi-compact design, 16 round mag, poly frame, and very accurate. Take a looksee.

Sorry to revive a somewhat old thread, but I never actually got around to purchasing another handgun. Rather than make a new thread, I figured the info in this one was still relevant, and I'd just bring this back.

I did some looking around, and I also came across the M92 compact. Does anybody have experience with these? It felt great in hand, and pointed naturally. Its also a proven design.

I must say though, I am leaning heavily towards a PCR, they hold well, point well, are at the right price, and they have a good reputation running for them.

You can't go wrong with the HKP2000sk. Mine is in .357sig/.40 but is other wise no different than a nine and i couldnt love it more.

^ I mentioned earlier on in this thread that I tried an SR9 at the range, it was definitely a good carry gun, it was lightweight, very thin, and the trigger was good as I remember, it just didn't point well for me, I was inaccurate, and the grip felt uncomfortable to me. I liken it to holding a deck of cards somewhat.

the stoger couger is a very good gun for the money, the px4 fits your criterion, although it is not compact the only 9mm with a hammer that I would want is the browning Hi-power

to the OP

I bought a HK USP 9mm 4" Compact with your exact criteria in mind.
It was a fine shooter, I LOVED the texture on the grip but had a bit of rattle in the slide, and the hammer sometimes snagged when I drew the gun. The compact is a rounded off version of the noncompact and makes a big difference.

I have since swapped to a Springfield XD 9mm 4". It has internal striker so it does not fit your criteria. There is a difference in angle on the grip between XD and Glock, so shoot both and feel which is more comfy. They are similar weapons.

Biggest difference between hammer and not was the difference in your first two trigger pulls, DA first shot will have stiffer action if not cock/locked. Dont feel bad about slow shopping. I shot 50+ pistols before deciding on my carry piece.

^I'd give the xD a chance if I could get over how it feels in my hand. Of the polymer pistols I've shot/held, the only ones I liked were the P07, the P2000sk, and the Walther P99.

CZ P-02. It is the new Omega trigger P-01, which has the ability, like the P-07 to switch from decocker to manual safety which allows cocked and locked carry. Its a 10 minute operation by the owner.

The Kahr P9 has already been mentioned and in your price range Kahr would offer many possibilities. $800 would get you TWO CW9s or one P9 or slightly larger TP9 with night sights and your choice of finish. All of those are polymer frames. You could also get the all-steel K9 or, what I would choose, the very sweet T9 with Novak night sights and wood grips.

CZ PCR fits all of your requirements, minus cocked and locked, plus lightweight for alloy. :)

The CZ-75 Compact can do DA and Cocked and Locked, no decocker, but is all steel.

The P-07 Duty does everything the PCR does. It is a simple switch to go from decocker to manual safety. So you can carry it as a DA/SA or cocked and locked. The manual safety is in the box with the gun. CZ has a great video on their website that shows you how to make the change.

Plus it is polymer so it cuts the weight down a little bit more. The CZ-USA website says they are the same weight. From holding them both I would say the P-07 actually feels slightly lighter.

I have 176 rounds through my P-07. It has fed and fired everything I put in the magazine. I have shot round nose, flat nose, and hp. Nothing failed to feed correctly and fire correctly. I have fired 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr. Everything cycled and fired just fine.

To me the 147gr combined with the low bore axis is comfortable and accurate. I love that combination. The recoil velocity is dampened just enough that the impulse becomes more like a firm push.

Either gun is a great choice.

ETA: I need to start checking the dates and reading the whole thread before I reply. :D

CZ P-01 or CZ P07 both are excellent compact size guns..

that I would consider that have your requirements.

Stoeger Cougar very nice pistol, just not very consealable, unless you wear extremely baggy clothes. It seems if you want a carry weapon, it needs to be consealable but you'll have to give up having a high capacity pistol. Now whole different ball game if it's in your car!
How'd you like to be the perp and you pull out a Glock 9mm with a 33 round mag, hanging out of the grip. Kind of over kill. I doubt if I would ever have that large capacity mag in the pistol, would be nice to have one as a backup available though.

Pilot, have they started importing the P-02? I haven't seen one any where except the European CZ website.

Went to the jerky show just now today, look what followed me home!

CZ PCR in 9mm. I saw it first at the show and realized I was comparing everything else I picked up to it at the show, so I figured that was reason enough.

In my view, the best carry guns are DAO and don't have a thumb-back hammer. Namely, G26, P250sc, P290, or the Springfield XD Sub.

Guns that meet your requirement? I suggest that you take a look at the P239.
