My wife shoots a 270...picked it herself...that's an old Remington 700 pictured below with the deer....but I got her a Winchester model 70 Featherweight Deluxe for an anniversary present this past year...sold the Remington.
Looking for a deer rifle for her!

Mod 7 Remington in in 243, 260 or 7mm-08. I'd definitely shy away from 30-30 in a lever gun.
The Ergonomics and stock design on a Marlin or Winchester lever gun is terrible especially for a women and proper cheek weld ( even on a shortened stock ) is nigh impossible and would result in greater felt recoil than more potent calibers. Been there, done that with my grandson and it beat him to death.

take her shopping .. If it were for my wife I would go with a lever gun , she might shoot a hundred and fifty yards at the most .. but that is around our place . a 30-30 would do .
