I'm looking for a good game cart after dragging my sons Deer out of the woods
over the weekend i through out my back. so i'm looking at game carts. i have a
good sled for when there is snow on the ground. i did use a cart a few years ago
but it would tip so if you have one that works good. i would like to know who its
made by
thank you

What I use for a game cart for deer is a dolly that I got from harbor freight with big wheels. I paid something like 22 dollars as they have coupons all the time, and it works great. Much cheaper than an actual "game cart".

Here's the one I have:

You can use bungees if you are going through some rough terrain, but the knobby wheels get good traction in the woods.

I bought this thing years ago from Bass Pro, Cabelas, one of those catalogs. Didn't have the net at the time, ordered it from a catalog. It's still going strong after being dragged by a dirt bike a lot, usually use the bike, not my legs, but it pulls easy. It was called the "Deer Sleigher" and is made of a tough, slick plastic. You lay the animal down in it and tie it around him, makes it easy to drag over any sort of terrain and protects the animal. I've hauled out 3 100 lbish hogs on it at one time before. It works well. Neat thing about it is you can roll it up and strap it to your day pack when hiking in to remote spots on public hunting grounds, can always have it along.

Here, on my place, I've used it, but I do have a little garden tractor with a dump cart that I have retrieved hogs from the trap with. I can't use my tractor on my other place when it's wet for obvious reasons, so the dirt bike gets used. I walk in, but when it comes to retrieving game, I'm lazy. i just wrap the game in that deer sleigher and drag it out with the bike at 20 mph. LOL

I just use a tough plastic sled like Mcgunner. I had a cart but it always tipped going over logs. Carts are ok if you have a trail.

Mine says Ford on it...and no its not a truck...it's a minitractor. I simply put the boom pole on the 3 point hitch, or pull the deer up onto the deck of the bushhog.

When I hunt public land I carry a rig with me that I built to carry my kayak. Think inverted saw horse with wheels on what would normally be the peak.

I'm thinking of building one with 26" bicycle wheels. Last year I pushed a wheelbarrow 5 miles with 3 quarters of a cow elk on it. It worked ok, but the small wheel did not work well on rocky ground.

All I know is that it's gonna have at least two big wheels. I'll sacrifice maneuverability for stability since I'm using mine in open grasslands. If I were using it in a wooded area I'd consider a single wheel setup. either way, a larger wheel rolls over obstacles better than a smaller one.

Hope your back feels better.

Here's what I use. Yeah, it was expensive. But I've used to to wheel out two at a time, and I consider it money very well spent.

that is a nice cart but $340. is a lot for me but that does look sweet

This is the basic design I was going to copy. I'll use larger wheels.

Take a look at the Gutless Method of Quartering Big Game on YouTube.
If your back is like mine pushing and lifting a cart over deadfalls will be just as bad as packing half a deer on a frame.
Get good bags and split the load between all the hunters and you'll be much happier.
Of course if you have a fairly level and clear path a wheel barrow would work great but I've watched hunter try to use all sorts of contraptions in the Colorado Mountains and nothing beats quartering and bagging and taking off with a quarter over your shoulder for camp or the truck. On subsequent trips you can leave the gun and return with a frame and carry more or bring help. Deer are so much easier than elk.
