Looking for a good peep sight for the Marlin model 795?

hey guys, i recenly purchased the marlin 795 and its a sweet little rifle...especally for the price. i really like everything about it except the factory open sights. usually im spot on with factory sights and arent very picky but i cant seem to get my eyes to foucus the rear, front, and target all at once with these. its throwing my aim off and is a little annoying. it think its cause the rifle is so small. anyway im looking for a reciever mounted peep sight. i was looking at the williams wgrs-54 and it seems like it might work but i heard things about having to raise the front sight (this was on other rifles not the malin 60s or 795)? anyone have experience with this on a marlin autoloader? anyway i saw the tech sights but im not feelin the $75 price tag. just want a simple peep sight that will get the job done. not into scopes on my 22s ether.

The Williams sight is very good for the money.

However, any time you put a peep sight on top of the receiver, it is very likely going to be higher then the open sight on the barrel.
That means you will also need a taller front sight to match up with it.

Good choice. Williams can tell you what the matching front sight will be.

I like these... http://www.tech-sights.com/ if I were going to stick with irons. A little on the expensive side, especially for a $125 rifle.

We choose to put an inexpensive red dot on it and it shoots pretty good. Cost about $50 total; $10 for the rail adapter and $40 for the red dot.

Hey guys thanks for the help! I did check out the tech sights but they are indeed a bit to pricy for such an inexpensive rifle. Was trying to stay within a $40 budget and having to replace the front sight as well forthe Williams WRGS-54 to work brought the price u to around 60 bucks shipped so I wasn't happy with that. I ended up just buyin a set of Williams fire sights. For 35 bucks shipped it came with a new front and rear sights. It is the grove type sight (which I've always been a pretty good shot with) so no peeps for me this time but it has color marking Which will help me alot with line up and target acquisition. Im sure t has to be better than the marlins stock black on black sights. Anway i can't wait till they get here to try them out!

Believe it or not, black on black sights are the most accurate sight color you can get.

Top NRA Bullseye match shooters used carbide lamp smoke to make them even blacker.

Unlike colored sights, changing sun angles reflecting off of matt black sights do not change your zero every half hour the sun moves and the glare changes from one side to the other.

Wow I didn't know that! That's really Interesting. I'm not doing any intense sharpshooting so hopefully it won't be a big issue. But wow that's a pretty cool fact to know.
