Me and my friends live in Grove City, just south of Columbus and are looking for a good rang for pistol and rifle. Any Recommendations?

Hey! Someone from my neck of the woods. Your best bet for an outdoor range is at Deer Creek - about 20 minutes away. They have a pistol, 50 yard and 100 yard range. For indoor you could try Ohio Valley Outdoors in Lancaster.

Indoor ranges would include "The Powder Room" in Powell, and "The New Albany Shooting Range" in New Albany. Both places have pistol and rifle ranges. New Albany's rifle range is only about 100' long. I've never used The Powder Room's rifle range, but is is underground, and I think it is 75-100 yards long.
The Powder room has some restrictions on pistol caliber (noise) and rifle optics/sights, while New Albany does not - most any caliber is allowed at NASR.

very cool! several Columbus area shooters. I live about 15 minutes from the New Albany Shooting range and have been a member for several years now (since opening) It's a very nice place to shoot.

If you dont mind the drive, go up to Logan County. Theres a guy I met at the range there, he drives from the west side of Columbus, because its the longest range in the area. 50, 100, and 200 yards. Membership is I think $25 a year, you can get them at Guns & Gear in Bellefontaine. There's no Range Nazis, no prohibition against anything except FA and I think .50 BMG (its not posted, though), and incindiary ammo (thats not posted either, but ask me how I know...:uhoh: ). Usually isnt a lot of other people there, unless you go on a Sunday when they have one of their trap shoots, or you luck out and go on a Saturday when the Logan County Handgun Association (I think thats what its called) is having one of their shoots. Either way, you just wasted your time, they'll be there till dark. And the Logan Co. SO has the range like the 3rd, 4th, or last (I dont remember which) Friday of every month, so you wont get to shoot then, either.

There is also a pond if you're into fishing in a stocked pond. I'm not, personally, so I just use the range.

A couple more options:

The Delaware ODNR range (10 minutes north of Delaware off of rte. 23). Kind of run down (IMHO), but only costs $3.

Tri-County (Amanda). Nice private range, membership required. About 20 miles or so south of Lancaster on rte. 22.

Pickaway County Sportsman's Club. Just north of Circleville on Rte. 22, a nice range with pistol & rifle comps, CMP clinics and so forth.

Don't have numbers in front of me, but you can go to www.wheretoshoot.org and find them I believe.

I looked long, far and wide for good ranges, and there are precious few in the Columbus area, unfortunately. So, I got disgusted and bought 44 acres! :D There's only 1 range idiot where I shoot, and that's me!

BTW, New Albany is a nice indoor range, but it's expensive, crowded and the staff can be jerks at times. Powder room is more easy going, but the ventilation system leaves much to be desired..cough...cough. Haven't been to Buckeye in Lancaster so I don't know about it.

Nice to see so many fellow central Ohioans here. We should have a get-together some time.

Ohio Valley in Lancaster has good ventelation but the staff is very slow. I've walked in and stood at the counter waiting to get checked in for 15-20 minutes and that's when I'm the only one waiting to use the range!
