I have a S&W 19 2.5'' coming to me in the mail in a few days and I need a good holster that rides high and tight to pack this little bugger around. I am really looking for a OWB leather with a tension screw. I dont like any kind of retention straps etc. just the tension adjustment stuff and I am not sold on kydex yet but if you fellas have any advice I am all ears. Thanks in advance for any advice:)

Think about your carry method...

You might want to reconsider the retention screw vs. strap if you are planning on concealing the gun.

I have the same gun I carry, I use a Roy's Original Pancake and it is a breeze to carry. The reason I point this out is you may want the retention strap, it covers the hammer and keeps it from wearing holes in your sweaters, shirts, jackets, etc. The thumb release is instant so it does not slow your draw. Galco makes a close model, I do not recall the name. Roy's has been out of business a while, but the holsters are available on ebay and used all the time.

I would not go with the kydex as it will be brutal on the blue finish on a 19.

Congrats on the 19 snubbie; you'll love it. It is an outstanding carry gun, and also fun to plink with with .38s. Shoots about as well as 4" k-frame in regard to recoil and accuracy, you just loose a little muzzle velocity.

Thanks for the reply ORO, I guess I should of gave a little more info about the gun. The hammer has been bobbed and it is nickel. so retention straps wont work unless they use the trigger guard and I still dont like 'em:)

Yep, that changes it quite a bit. Nickel and bobbed makes a retention type the way to go. I don't have anything helpful there, sorry!

Nonsense!!! You have plenty to offer, where did you get your T grip and would you recommend it? it sure looks nice.

Tyler's sells them direct, or there's a gun shop in VA that has them in stock, let me look a second and post a link.

Tyler's:

Another seller:

They show up in classifieds and ebay periodically, but usually aren't much cheaper. They come in the brushed aluminum, matte black, and shiny black. I went with the aluminum on this one to give some contrast between the polished blue finish and the faux ivory grips - I shaped them into magna style grips and added the emblems for a semi-factory look.

I love the t-grips and put either them, targets, or combat grips on pretty much all my guns. Service grips or magna's just don't fit my hand. That 19 has the magna's and tyler's on it because it gives the smallest possible profile for cc but the proper grip for good, controlled shooting.

I checked out Mernickle's stuff and I really like the looks of there stuff I am going to try the PS6. Thanks for the info fellas:)

Tyler T-Grips also come in gold! It's bronze, either polished or matte, and gives you six choices - two each of black, silver, and gold. The only place I've seen that sells all of them is their website posted by Oro above.

i like the DeSantis Speed Scabbard (without the strap). Open top yet very secure. I have one for all the guns I carry. That includes a 2 1/2" S&W M66. The top of the holster covers the hammer so there's no wear or tear on anything.

PWL holster

I have a model 19 snubby and have carried it in a PWL pancake holster. It holds the gun high and tight against my side. These are made in England and distributed from a dealer in Atlanta.
