So I have found out that to put a stock on my Kriss vector SDP I have to do a ton of other things first. I am welcoming myself into the world of SBR and NFA weapons... Let the fun begin.

I have had a local attorney set up my trust wich I will have in my hands tomorrow and believe I have the form 1 filled out correctly and have my check made out for the $200.00.

My questions are :

Do I send 2 copies of the trust and 2 copies of the form 1 ?

The second question is if my trust's name is "M. Mouse Firearms Revocable Living Trust" Does this have to be engraved word for word on the firearm , or is "M. Mouse Trust" acceptable? I have read that Revocable Living does not need to be engraved.

Last question.. The Kriss Vector is odd in its design to say the least. Where would the engraving have to be done? would I have to have a window or hole cut in the polymer and have the metal of the frame engraved or can it be done in the polymer of the frame? Not sure how critical they are of this.

Thanks for any and all help. I have days invested into searches and am still confused. Also does the NFA division of the BATFE answer questions like these over the phone or do they expect you to find the info on your own?

I'll answer what I can - send two copies of the trust and two copies of the form 1. Make sure the Form 1 is printed front and back of the page, they won't accept two page Form 1s. So if you print your own copy off the ATF website, make sure you do it on one page.

I don't do trusts, so I can't help with the rest. Most people do nowadays, so you'll have answers shortly.

Only send 1 copy of the trust they shred them after theyre done using it

Send 2 copies of the form in they keep one on file and the other is sent back with stamp attached

I have heard they want the whole trust name but that you can sub Revoc... with RLT and make sure its at least 1/16" tall letters and cut at least .003 deep
I always tell the engraver to make them the same height and style as any other writing on the gun

Where on the gun idk i would call KRISS and any other NFA form questions call them they dont bite and youll get it straight from the horses mouth 304-616-4500

Thanks everyone. Made a call today and they are very nice and helpful. It is only 1 copy of the trust and 2 of the form. The engraving must conform to their specific requirements and must be exactly as it appears in the trust and on the form you submit whether it be form 1 or form 4. So when doing your trust make the name something short and sweet. I had my attorney change it to remove "revocable living" but it is stated in the body of the trust to be as such. All is good and the wait on my stamp begins. Thanks again everyone.

Remember don't engrave until your approved also. There are some questions if your trust must be funded or not before you add your first NFA item on your scheduled A.

I have seen rejections for some that weren't but seen some approved also. When I did my first transfer I funded it with a $5.00 bill. Added the serial number to the schedule A.

Once I added my first approved transfer I removed the 5.00 from the schedule A, and just kept racking up more NFA items...

Congrats! And keep doing more reading, I haven't SBR'd anything yet but soon enough I will. Lately I want to add another machine gun to the list.

Once you begin your first, you love to start collecting stamps.

You can engrave your item before you receive your stamp...or even before you send the Form 1 in, if you care to. Nothing illegal about doing that and if the engraver screws up and engraves the wrong thing, you simply list it verbatim on your Form 1. If they screw it up AFTER you get the Form back, it can create issues.

YMMV

1. Engrave first. You don't want to pay 200.00 and wait 7 months to have the engraver screw up the engraving or have your SBR lost / damaged in the mail.
2. The engraving on the gun has to match the trust name. Shorter is better. My trust is "123 NFA Trust" (no quotes)
3. Mail one copy of the trust. All pages including schedule A (items in the trust). Ensure you have at least one asset on schedule "A". e.g. "$10.00 cash" (this is called funding the trust).
4. Mail 2 copies of form 1 - each copy needs to be printed front to back i.e. pages 1 & 2 printed on one sheet of paper.
5. Rather than sending a 200.00 personal check, get a postal money order. In the "From:" field, you enter the name of your trust etc... My attorney suggested this because you and the trust are two separate legal entities and using a money order helps to maintain the distinction... If you have a checking account in the name of your trust this serves the same purpose.
6. Complete and mail one copy of form 5330.20 (some say this isnt needed when doing a trust... I sent it in any way to be safe)
7. "Multi" cannot be used in box 4.c (caliber). My attorney suggested I list additional calibers in 4.h like this:
(4.c continued)/.223/9mm/6.5mm/6.8mm/(caliber - "Multi")

On my lower "Caliber Multi" actually appears on the receiver.
Hope this helps.

I really hope not "funding the trust" doesn't get my application denied. I had not ever heard of this and nothing was mentioned from my attorney. I did add the pistole and its serial number that I intend to SBR once the stamp is approved. Would that not be considerd an "asset" or does it have to be monetary?

Any asset on schedule "A" is considered funding the trust. you are good to go.
