Looking for a OS! gun

I'm in the market for a os gun now and would like some input from the peanut gallery what would be your rifle and why. Lets say in the price range from 0 to 1200 dollors. And just to make it a little harder no 223/5.56 guns.

I'm guessing that OS! = Oh S***! = SHTF.

AK variant of your choice, lots of ammo, mags, and a training class should come in at about $1200. Why you don't want 5.56 is beyond me since ammo will be easier to find in an "OS!" scenario.

Judging by the exclamation point right behind the "OS" I would have to assume that he means an "Oh S--t!" rifle, what we generally call a SHTF rifle.

I'm going to try to politely suggest two things: A; go search the archives for other, similar threads. There are many, many such threads, and B; if, after reading through them, you have particular needs or didn't read what you wanted to see or whatever other variable, come back to us with a more pointed question.

I'm ex Military Police didn't care for them then and don't care for them now. Although I have had alot of them but never had one that I just fell in love with.

Look, sir, I don't want to delve into the MP/SP jokes here, but once you move away from 5.56x45, your options slim up considerably and you really want me to spell out AK-47 clone for you? Give us some specifics besides price and a caliber you don't want. What are you looking for? I can't read minds...give us variables and we will try to help based upon whatever information is available, but you don't help any of us out if you don't tell us anything. Oh, and don't call us the peanut gallery...bitin' the hand that feeds ya on that one...

PTR-91
Etc.

There are thousands of threads out there, if you have a specific question about a rifle you have in mind, ask it. Don't wait for someone to validate your opinions. Opinions on rifles are not in short supply here.
