I just got a Remington Model 700 SPS Stainless 270 for Christmas and know I am looking for a scope. I am looking for one that is the color of the stainless steel barrel. It is a more darker stainless barrel. I am wanting a leupold but the prices are high. I hunt Whitetail deer to about 300 yds. I have also been looking at the Nikons and the Bushnell Elites. Well I hope yall can give me some good advice. Thanks and Happy New Year !!!!!!

Leupolds are good scopes, but significantly overpriced, IMHO. I recommend the Zeiss Conquest. You would have to spend a lot more money to get better optics than the Zeiss. The Bushnell Elite 4200 is also an excellent choice if you are looking to spend a bit less than the Zeiss. Whatever you do, do not fall for the allure of a high magnification scope. Too many people think they need to mount an astronomical observatory to their deer rifle, and it just ain't so. A good 3-9x variable is more than adequate for just about any kind of shooting you might need to do, and it will cost significantly less than an equivalent higher magnification scope.

Both the Zeiss Conquest and the Bushnell Elite 4200 are available in a sliver finish to match stainless guns, although personally, I think a standard black finish scope looks pretty good on a stainless rifle.

Had a Bushnell Elite 4200 on a 30-06; a wonderful scope. Have a Bushnell Elite 3200 on a 7mm Remington Magnum; likewise a wonderful scope, just not quite as bright as the 4200.

Weaver

The Weaver Grand Slam 3.5-10x50 is available in a slightly darker stainless color and is a fine scope. I have one mounted on my Ruger 77 Stainless- .270 Win. bedded to a Fajen Gray Laminated stock. Looks and shoots very well.
