Looking for a Savage 99

I would like to find a decent Savage Model 99. I'm not that picky about the caliber (300 Savage, 250-3000, etc.. would be fine). I just haven't had any luck looking for one in the gun shops in my area. Does anyone know a good place to look?

Finding one in a gunstore or pawnshop would just be pure luck. Your best bet is an online gun auction site, like Gunbroker. There are several on gunbroker right now, actually. A couple are even priced realistically. I'm currently taking care of my dad's Savage '99 in .303 Savage while my parents are on an extended trip. It's light and handy and a good rifle all around.

don't know where you are , but last week in july there will be a gunshow in Pasadena tx. there is allways one dealer that goes to the houston shows, that has some of the finest 99's in a variety of cals, some are very nice, to absolutely stunning condition.

It is in 300 Savage. You might want to give them a call. Though, I don't know if they will do a transfer to a local FFL.

Since you live on the east coast I would recommend a trip to Maine.
There are a boatload of Savage 99 rifles up there, mostly .300 Savages.

That's a bit expensive for a 300 Savage, even for a clean mid-fifties example. I've bought six Savage 99's and the MOST that I paid (a year ago) was $495 for a '62 99F in 308 in 95% condition.....

Of course, thats from a shop and he's got his dealers profit in the price. According to the Gun Traders Guide its retail.
Depends on how bad you wanted it. I'd only want one in my life, so I'd get it if I was in the market.

If you are still interested, I have two 300 savages model 99 that I would like to sell. One of the rifles is a custom with iron sights. The second rifle is a deluxe modle with a 4.5 scope.
