i have a FNP-9 right now. it's ultra reliable and a fine pistol but a little too big for CCW (for me). Will keep it as a HD and range gun.

it's about the same size as a Glock 19 from what i can tell.

Looking for something smaller. . Not a Glock.....they are great but dont fit well in my hand.

my 2 criteria are: ultra reliable with HP rounds......and at least 8rd mag. Say....did i mention ultra reliable w/HP ammo?:)

Any suggestions?

thanks..................Bill

I know you can make a Sig P6 100% shooting HP's with a little tweaking. Nice pistols and cheap. Dont have any first hand experience with them though. Nice small, solid gun though.

Kahr Arms PM-9.
Normally comes with a 6 round magazine, but with the 7 round magazine (extended pinky shelf) it's just one round off your 8 round limit.

It's about the same size as the Glock 26 but thinner.

I carry a PM9 everyday with the standard 6rd mag. I do have 7 and 8rd mags that fit it also, they just hang out the bottom further.

Keltec PF9 is 7+1, the P11 is 10+1 both are 9mm.

Then you have the "bigger" small guns like Glock 26, XDsc, M&Pc, and CZ 2075Rami all of which are double stack and carry at least 10rds I believe. But of course they are thicker and will be slightly harder to conceal compared to a pocket nine.

Kel-tec P11.

Ugly as sin, but it'll work when you need it.

i reccomend the sa xd sc, i have one and i love it, it has almost 2k rds through it and it is 100% reliable, with anything and everything that i have shot through it, and i have shot more jhp's through that gun than any other i have ever owned. they are reliable, accurate, soft shooting, and easy to carry.

Anybody carry an XD sub?

I carry an XD sub but in .40 and I love it. It performs reliably and fits nice for it's size. I was in the market for a smaller gun than my P2000. I looked at the Glock 26 but my hand was too big for it. My pinky just fits on the 9 round mag on the XD and it's nice cuz you can get the 12 rounders with the grip extension for a more comfortable gun while shooting at the range.

While it is not a sub compact look at the Kahr T-9. 8 round mag in a small package. Option two is the Kahr P-9. You can load it with the 8 round T-9 mag.

I have a PM-9, but prefer the P-9 to it.

You like your FNP-9, how about an FNP-9M?

I was going to say the same thing, I have an FNP-9M and I love it, I have been carrying it more than any other gun. In an MTAC for the USP 40, it disappears but is fairly easy to draw from. I have the forward belt attachment at the lowest setting, and the rearward at the center or second lowest hole, both work very well, the second lowest hole makes for an even better time concealing and lets me wear it a little more forwards on my side, while the center hole allows an easier draw but is still very well hidden.

It is only about a quarter inch shorter than your FNP, only gives up one round of capacity, but in the MTAC that gun is invisible and comfortable.

Kel-tec P11.

Ugly as sin, but it'll work when you need it.

I don't know if I would call a P11 ugly as sin. There are definitely prettier guns out there, but the P11 is not ugly. Now the High Points...those are ugly.

Kahr CW9 with the 8-rd mag. Best value out there. And you can pocket carry it, though a PM9 would be better for pocket. But they may not be as reliable.

Thanks for the replies re: the XD. A friend of mine just picked up one in 9, so I'll try it out in the next week or so.
