I think rifle guys might know more about this question although my answer is the solution to a shotgun problem.

I'm looking for a THIN section of picatinny or weaver rail that I can have cut and mounted into the rear sight section of my Remington 870P.

I have a NIB 870P from 2000 or 2001, when they used the ghost ring mounted on the top of the receiver. I had the ghost ring removed and I'm looking to install a short piece of rail in the, roughly, 2" notch in the top of the receiver.

From there I'm going to install an Aimpoint that will fit on the short piece of rail.

I also want to be also able to use the bead sight when the Aimpoint is not installed so I'm also looking for someone who can machine out the center of the rail to give the full use of the bead when the Aimpoint is not installed.

So, where can I find a shortish section of rail? And maybe a darn good machinist? (I'm hoping the rifle guys can help as this would be a VERY unusual shotgun question.)

No, it doesn't need it, the early, 2000s 870Ps...maybe now more a shotgun discussion, up to you Mods...are flat along the top of the receiver.

So, I'm looking for a piece of rail than can be drilled and mounted and have the center radiused/dremeled to allow the use of the bead when the Aimpoint isn't mounted.

I have a thin piece that came of a 10-22 if you want it. I'm not sure if it's wide enough for what you need.
