I wade fish where I'm regularly knee to waist deep in water, and am looking for an IWB holster for my SP101 that doesn't have leather. Right now I'm considering a Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0 or a Stealth Gear Mini Ventcore, but would like to see other suggestions (or comments on the 2 listed) for a holster that definitely will get submerged and be worn for several hours while wet.

Years ago I bought a Hoffner's IWB holster for my 4" 629 which is molded of heavy Kydex and works very very well, with no possible chance of taking on or holding water. It would be perfect. There are threads featuring pics of that on this site. (https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...-on-hoffners-iwb-holster.610086/#post-7527412)

Unfortunately, when I search on Hoffner's holsters now, it seems he's given himself over entirely to absurd bling bling junk and tacticool crap like $150 battle shorts. So...sigh...I guess that helpful resource is utterly vanished now.

Thanks for the tip on Hoffners. I couldn't really find much on their website that was useful, but I hadn't considered a 100% kydex holster without a backer. As long as I find it comfortable, something like that would probably work best.

No...trust me, at this point there's practically nothing on their site that is useful.

But the form of that IWB kydex holster would be easy enough for any decent kydex maker to copy if they were so inclined.

All kydex is the only way to go if you're concerned about moisture. The backing on both the Alien Gear and Stealth Gear holsters would be like wet sponges.

There should be several kydex options for the SP101. However, only you can determine if they are comfortable enough. Lots and lots of folks wear kydex IWB holsters.

I didn't look at their current site, but I think I remember that Hoffners holster held the cylinder above the belt. That always seemed like a good idea for an N-Frame, but a little gun, with a short barrel like the SP101, seems like it may be better suited riding lower.

I like that Dark Star option, thanks for the link.

Have you considered a shoulder holster?

Very briefly. I'm normally wearing a sleeveless T, so that doesn't offer me much for concealment. And when I'm fishing I often have to wade neck deep to cross streams, so it still doesn't keep my gun/holster out of the water.

I just picked up a Stealthgear Revolution Mini-IWB. I haven't had it long enough to form a thorough opinion, but it looks like it's pretty well-made and (for what little carrying I've done with it), it's been comfortable. https://stealthgearusa.com/index.php/revolution

Unfortunately they don't make the Revolution for the SP101 or I probably would have already ordered it. Maybe I should email them to see if they'd consider making one.

Yes it does.

However, I don't really care what revolver it is, I don't much want to have the cylinder stuck between my belt and my skin. Especially the chubby little SP101. (Now a j-frame is a bit slimmer, with just 5 shots.)

It would be worth having a bit of extra holster material just to extend down below the belt to stabilize the bulk of the gun and keep the holster anchored and upright, but I'd still want the cylinder up above my belt.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe something like the AIWB guys often seem to do is get the holster for the longer barreled version (a G19 holster for a G26, or G17 holster for the G19) to provide stability.

Well, drat. I should have looked at that, eh?
