well, its been a while. i was at ft irwin california doing some desert training for my upcoming deployment. while there, i got a hold of guns and ammo's : book of the ar. i honestly despise the m4 that i have to carry because of the gas blowback design. so i decided to get something that came in both .308 and a gas piston. ive seen a lot of cheap attempts at both, so if anyone out there knows of a good ar-10 with a gas piston system that is reliable, and dead accurate, please let me know. i fell in love with the look of the new remmington thumbhole ar's but alas, no .308. any help would be appreciated.

POF's P308 rifle fits your needs perfectly, RELIABLE, accurate, and GP. Also expelsive.;) I have the .223 version of it, and they are awesome.

A few members here (that i know of) have them, and we all love them. (one is actually getting a P308 for his next rifle) Mine has been stupid reliable, except when i let one of my less gun savvy friends shoot it...;) POFs are also very easy to clean, as long as you don't let it sit for a day or more, just take some solvent, spray on, and wipe down.

POF, has a mile long waiting list...or so I hear. What about the H&K MR762? It's not really a exact copy of a AR-10, but its darn close and is reputed to have excellent reliability. :)

IMO there's nothing wrong with the DI system that really needs solved.

I believe the close clearences of the AR can be blamed for reliability issues when sand and other debris make their way into the action. I shot over 1K rounds through my AR-15 without cleaning it and I also ran it dry to see if it would stop...It didn't but I wasn't hanging out in blowing sand storms either.

I'll bet a Kalashnikov in DI would be just as reliable.

Armalite makes a ar-10 in a gas piston. it was part of a military program but is available for civilians it's under the name sass
comes with scope . pelican case, suppressor or not rifle or carbine. thought about it but is around 2500 -3,000
but high quality

I like my cheapo AR10B, no scope and nothing to hang off the rail. It's accurate for me anyway. :D

The Armalite Super SASS is DI, not GP. :)

POF, as others have said. A friend has the .223 and it's nice. But I also agree with those noting that DI works fine and IMHO the piston AR's are a solution in search of a problem.

Personally I like the gas piston better, but if your main goal is accuracy the DI system has a better track record. :)
