Hey fellers, all of a sudden I'm thinking I want a bolt action .223 (sold my AR's but still have ammo stash and feel that bolt actions will be among the last to come under any ban scrutiny.)
Anyway, first question: my ammo is mostly mil-spec 5.56 xm-193 and some green tip.I'm assuming a bolt gun chambered in .223 won't have any issues shooting .5.56, right ?
I recall reading good stuff about the Stevens rifles, and at $300 delivered from Buds, it's no huge commitment, but I thought I'd be wise to run it by the THR gang. Any help, advice, recommendations, constructive criticism, etc. much appreciated.......

I've always read on THR that you can not shoot a 5.56x45 NATO bullet out of a .223 chamber, however you can shoot a .223 out of a 5.56x45 NATO chamber

You are correct.

No, 5.56 usually has slightly thicker case walls, meaning higher pressure. I would not recommend shooting 5.56 in a .223. You may not have a problem with it. The most likely problem would be cases that are a pain to extract, the worst-case problem would be a kaboom. I wouldn't try it.

That being said I have shot RELOADED 5.56 cases in a bolt action. But they had been resized and loaded with minimum powder loads.
