I am awaiting receipt of a 3" 686 round butt frame, and plan to carry it IWB after I put some rounds through it. My plan is to remove the rubber grips that come on the gun (they extend below the grip frame) and install some wood boot / service grips that end at the bottom of the grip frame for maximum concealability.

So far, I've narrowed it down to either the

- Hogue Rosewood Bantam, http://www.hogueinc.com/store/products/k-or-l-rd-bantam-rosewood-bantam/1349

- Eagle Secret Service Rosewood service grips, https://eaglegrips.com/kl-frame-sec...sson-kl-frame-round-butt-rosewood-grips-.html

Any thoughts on these two choices? Anyone have any other recommendations?

I tend to prefer grips without finger grooves, as finger grooves are frequently in the wrong place for me. Again, I'd prefer them to end at the bottom of the grip frame and not extend past.

Thank you for the suggestions.

I'd personally prefer the Eagle.
Just personal preference on appearance.

Note that S&W uses the same size grips on the "K" frame and "L" frame.

Many grips can have the finger grooves sanded down or completely off.

Some of the following are made by the same company and sold by different companies:

Some of their boot grips have very shallow finger grooves.

These are made of wood Micarta. Sand off the finger grooves, and if wanted, shorten the butt to match the frame, then just sand with finer sand paper and polish with a buffer or even metal polish to shine.

Expensive, but super quality. Check under Custom for boot grips.
More or less made to order.

Yes, Eagle Secret Service stocks.

Thank you for the suggestions everyone. I was able to handle a boot / service grip in a pawn shop, not sure the brand, but they felt pretty good. Looking at all the photos I selected the ones that appear to be the closest match, the ones posted by dfariswheel at http://www.handgungrips.com/K__L_Fra...on/1901/c/3044.

When I get the gun and stocks, I'll post a pic with range report in a new thread.

Thanks again ...
