I am getting a CZ 527 rifle in 223 Remington for varminting and want a 6-20x or 6-24x scope for it. I was hoping not to spend a lot on the scope. I saw that Bushnell makes a 6-24x scope, the "Bushnell Banner 6-24x 40mm Matte Mil Dot 716244" which sells for only $121. Compared to the $500-600 for the Bushnell 4200 Elite in 6-20x or other 6-20x scopes, this was quite inexpensive. Does anyone know about this scope, whether it performs satisfactorily? It has 1/4 MOA adjustment. I've had good experiences with other Bushnell products.

I'd move towards the $180 - $200 pricepoint, and look into the Bushnell 3200 Elite. There probably isn't a definitively better scope/deal out there.

EDIT: I didn't realize you were ONLY looking for a 6-20x + ... :)
A variable up to 24x is going to a more expensive scope in general.
either way, you'll need to bump your price point to get more selection
than the Barskas and BSA's and Banner series. Not all Bushnells are equal.

here's a millett for $259.

Wholeheartedly agree J.a.d.w.a.g. (above) as I am a BIG fan of the Bushnell Elite (3200-4200) Series. I currently have three different rifles scoped with these Bushnells & everyone who shoots them comments on the sharpness of image & great light transmission. Like you...I've always had good luck with Bushnell (B&L) products, but I've stayed away from their lower-grade offerings.

I've also heard some positive things about the Mueller scopes (but I don't OWN one). A gun buddy of mine has a couple on his varmint rifles and claims they're a GREAT value. But in the end, you get what you PAY FOR.

On a light kicking gun like a .223, one of the lighted mil dot reticle BEC 6-24X42 that Sportsman's Guide sells would be ideal at around $100.00. I have the 3-12 version that was on the M-70 I sold that's going to go on my 10-22 project
