Wanting to get a small light weight pistol. Need one that is not only small but has flawless function (had one of those AMT .380s about 10 years ago that was crap)

Looking at the Beretta Tomcats and Bodcats, in .32. Also the NAAs, Rohrbar 9mm and .380s, Glock 26, Keltecs and others. the smaller the better. Controlability and accuracy are important also. Want a small CCW can carry when wearing shorts and can throw in a pocket. (please no suggestions for larger fram guns-I already have and that is not what I am looking for at this time.) Looking at .32, .380 or possibly 9mm.

I should think Kel Tec would be the lightest in .32 and 380, maybe even in 9mm. In the 9mm. category you have Keltec, kahr, and glock. The keltec and Kahr should be very similar in weight, the kahr should be a bit lighter(but not on your pocketbook). I don't remember where beretta falls in the weight department, but it isn't very heavy. As far as reliability, your looking at good guns they are all on par in the reliability area. I don't know the size of your hands, but if you can find one with the extended finger dealie, my pinky and ring finger? fall off most of these guns which I find to be a hinderance. And if you are considering carrying a 9mm then you could look at North American guardians or seecamps, slightly less weight, smaller cartridge; neat little guns.

I'd take a look at a Kahr PM9. I had one and it was a great little pistol. I sold it to buy my PM40 for the added power of the .40 round and I liked the newer black slide finish and got night sights too. At 14 or 15 oz, they are hard to beat.

Kahr PM9. Totally reliable after you run 200-300 rounds through it.

(In other words, expect a few FTFs and FTEs during the break-in period, since they build these things tight. I have not a malfunction after round 150, and I have over 800 through mine now.)

Also, since Kahrs like to be a bit "wet", I strip mine down and re-lube it once per week, religiously.

have my keltec p3at in my pocket as i type. over 300 rnds. thru it without malfunction. it is first generation. 1 year old. couldn't be happier. truly pocketable. about 10 oz. loaded with 7 rnds. hogue handall jr. and bersa finger ext. on mag make it a delight to shoot. reasonable cost and lifetime warranty. i don't leave home without it! :) go to www.ktrange.com for useful info.
