CCW .380 autos?

It depends. Some of the mini-9mms are flat out expensive, you'd have to shoot literally cases of 9mm to make up the difference. Some people physically cannot handle the recoil of a larger caliber, and the bigger .380 ACP mitigates the recoil enough to allow them to shoot more. Then, there's the "this thing just flat intrigues me" of some guns. I have a couple of high-cap .380s. A Taurus, and a Beretta. I don't use them for CCW, but I shoot them on a regular basis. Just because they are novel to me.

Then, the 9mm is meant to be used in a minimum of a 3.5" barrel. The Speer Short-barrel 9mm+P load shoots a 124 gr +P load at 1150 fps from that barrel length.

The Buffalo Bore .380+P 27C load shoots the 90 gr. Gold-Dot at 1100 fps from the Kel Tec P3AT, with it's 1" shorter barrel. The 9mm load loses quite a bit of speed at that barrel length.

It's all about what you feel comfortable with. Hitting is more important than what you hit with, as a missed shot has zero penetration, and zero chance of inflicting a telling wound. To each their own.:)

I recently bought a Bersa Thunder 380 - I LOVE it! It is just big enough yet still small. I was teetering between the LCP and the Bersa.....the LCP was nice but too small for me. I am very glad I bought the Bersa...the trigger...the decocker....solid frame = VERY happy for me :)

I will not trust my life on a Kel-Tec, Ruger LCP, or plastic Kahr. Over the years, I have carried a number of .380s - including: HK4, Mauser HSc, Walther PPK/S, Walther PPK, and Colt Government. While fine little firearms, none of these were ideally suited for pocket carry. I carried them in IWB holsters or shoulder holsters. Currently, I carry a Glock G26 IWB and find it to be as easy to carry as the aforementioned .380s - and it packs a lot more firepower.
