Does anybody remember the map of the country divided up into all 3,000+ counties according to their red or blue status for the 2000 elections? I was wondering if such a map existed for the 2004 election. I want to start a collection of them if possible.

Also if possible, if anybody has the '00 election map in a digital format I'd love to have it. I just have it printed out and that page has been getting quite a bit of use these last couple of months. I'd like to have a more "permanent" copy to be able to refresh it when it gets old.

Thanks.

THank you very much. I've been searching through different news sources. It would have taken me a while to get to USAToday. Much appreciated.

Look at California. Much more red than blue. I live in a red county. Maybe we can push the blue into the sea.

heh. Yeah, we've got them cut off. The coastal blues could still get supplies and reinforcements by sea, though. Anybody got a boat?

I'd like to see the red versus blue map overlaid with concentrations of welfare recipients, as well as concentrations of violent crime. I'd be surprised if there weren't quite a correlation.

MI went Kerry, but only 10 out of the 84 counties went Kerry.

The map shows Wayne County as "grey" or not counted. You can bet that's another bright blue blot on the map, with Detroit voting in big numbers. We just didn't have enough rain on Tuesday.

Regards.

Mississippi River?

But why is there a bunch of kerry counties going up the Mississippi ? I am looking down in MS, LA and AR, etc.

Can't answer for all of the Mississippi valley, but the stretch of blue running from Little Rock to the AR/MS/LA border is cotton farming land (and the location of at least one prison). Rather surprising to see it blue.
And thanks for the map: I was looking for it too!

If Only...

If only each county received one electoral vote, things would work out a lot different.

Parts of the Mississippi delta have the highest proportion of African Americans in the nation outside of large urban areas - 89% Kerry vote overall according to news yesterday.

If I read the map correctly the only states that voted PURE RED this year are Oklahoma and Nebraska. And in 2000 only Nebraska (of those two) voted pure red.

Does either state need software engineers?

Hey, with a voting record like that why on earth doesn't Nebraska have CCW???

Can anyone explain the liberal voting patterns of IA and MN? Is the scandanavian socialist influence still that strong?

It looks like Utah and Alaska did too. Unfortunately MI didn't.

There is a correlation, but it is not "politically correct" to bring that up in mixed company. If you get a copy of "The World Almanac 2000", some 2000 Census data and info off packing.org, you will see what the problem is. Just don't say what it is, you will be labled. :what:

Break it down by precinct and you'll see a lot more red. Amazing that half the population is concentrated in itty bitty little blue areas.
