I'm looking for a new bullet to load in 45ACP for target work. Bullet must be dirt-cheap, yet shoot as well as the Nosler 185 JHP.

OK, howabout a lead bullet that's accurate and doesn't smoke up the indoor range I frequent? And make it a hard one that I can run down the pipe of my USP (polygonal barrel) without leading. Oregon Trail's bullets fit that bill, but the smoke was too much for me.

Or a less-expensive yet accurate Nosler alternative?

I'm doing most of my shooting with West Coast Bullets 200gr SWCs and find them very clean, inexpensive ($50/1000 delivered) and reasonably accurate. While I've found WCB to be the best of the lot in plated and OK for practice and fun, they're not accurate enough for Bullseye shooting.

thanks,
Larry

Cast your own and lube them with Lee liquid alox. Smoke is minimal and YOU are in charge of quality. It is what I do.

If you don't want to cast your own see if a local caster will lube some with the alox or sell you sized and unlubed bullets that you can lube. The powder you load with will also make a difference in how much smoke you see, try some Hodgdon Clays as it seems to be the cleanest and least smoke of all suitable 45 powders. Clays and Meister bullets is fairly low smoke and as accurate as anything I have ever tried, sub 2" @ 25 yards easily from my favorite 45.
