Can anyone suggest a good holster that will be good for both 1911 and BHP? I am interested in both belt and shoulder one. Is there some holster that can be worn on the belt and on the shoulder? Or I am better off getting a separate holster for each gun?

Unless you want one of the universal models you would be better off getting seperate holsters for a good fit to the respective pistols.
I don't think you will find a holster that converts from a belt carry to a shoulder carry that will wear comfortably.

my findings

I found that any open toed belt holster for a 1911 will fit a HP as well. I carried a CCC 1991A1 and a FNHP in the same holster depending on my mood. Not at the same time.

a non-custom-molded 'service auto' holster for a 1911 will fit a BHP pretty well.

I have a shoulder rig and a IWB holster I bought for my 1911, both of which hold my BHP just fine.

Is this for concealed carry? or did you just want a belt holster more like a duty holster. I just bought a Bianchi Accumold Duty holster for my HP. It also fits my 1911. I don't wear either for concealed carry so I just wanted a utility holster for hiking or when I'm riding my quad.

You can find them for around $25 to $30.

Galco G-slide

Dillon CLS

US Military 1911 Flap style holster fit's 'em both, or suprisingly a Luger too.

I have a buddy with a "4 way" "Mossad" holster... It fits his HP but it's a tight fit for a full sized 1911... fits a commander pretty well.

Allows you to wear the holster SOB, IWB, OWB, or as a shoulder holster.

I have a Bianchi UM84 military type holster. It fits the BHP and 1911 and you can get a shoulder attachment to use it as a shoulder holster if you want. I have the thumb break and got rid of the flap. It also has a tactical attachment that turns it into a thigh holster. Its like the Mr. Potato Head of holsters. :D

I've used my old Dillon "Liberty" holster with both 1911s and a Argentine FM High Power.
It works fine, but isn't cataloged any more.

The current Dillon 1911 holster is called the "LTD." It is similar to the "Liberty" would probably work with a HP too.

I use a Galco Silhouette Hi Ride belt holster for the BHP. Its made for a Kimber but the BHP fits in there nice and snug. Found it in a box at a gunshop in San Antonio for $50 but I talked them down to $30. The holster is like brand new.

You can do it......but we really dont recommend it. The more secure a gun is in the holster.....or doesnt move around the better off you are. A two gun holster will almost never hold both guns in place like they need. Any movement in the holster will wear the finish/parkerizing/blueing off of your gun in spots in a rapid way.
If you can find one that works..........then youre doing OK......
Shoot well..............

My browning hipower and 1911 are interchangeable in all the 1911 holsters Ive tried. I had a summer special, but recently sold it (both worked fine in it), and I currently have a texas heritage and a milt sparks versamax II that also work fine for both. The browning seems to be slightly smaller in frame width, but other than that thier dimensions are quite similiar and have posed no problems for using the same holsters. I have heard that 1911's wont work in a bhp holster, but have never heard anything saying the reverse wasnt true.
