Hello,

Can anyone give me a recommendation on a guide / outfitter for a South Dakota Prairie Dog Hunt? I have looked on Ultimate Prairie Dogs and I have made some phone calls. I always feel better about it when I have an unbiased opinion from someone with first hand experience. I am more interested in an all inclusive lodge, but I am open to other options as well. Main considerations are quality dog towns that haven’t been over hunted, quality shooting benches and clean accommodations.

I’d be very appreciative for any ideas.

Chris

Try to stay on private land or leases.....stay away from tribal reservations. Those areas fall under different authority and protections than what you're use to. Know of well meaning hunters that had vehicles, guns & equipment taken by renegades who left them on foot. When they turned it over to the police, they were informed the police had no jurisdiction on those lands. Those incidents are isolated but none the less they do happen.

Gonna need a nonresident varmint license, can't help with any contacts, might wanna call game and parks and see if they have a list?

Yup, that's been going on for, oh, a few centuries.
