Okay, I'm looking for some new grips with which to sort-of customize my Colt Government Model.

I'm looking for some nice, synthetic ivory grips that I think will look pretty sharp contrasted against the matte blueing.

So who makes good ones, and where can I buy them?

Oh, they have to be cut for a non-extended, ambidextrious safety, as I plan on having one of these installed eventually.

Thanks!

Oh, if you've got similar grips on your gun, let's see 'em!

This doesn't address your question directly, but Simonich's Gunner Grips are super durable, have more grip than regular checkering, and look good in a functional way.

If you are looking for synthetic ivory, this is about the best I have found.

I have a set of Eagle Ultra Ivory, and they're nice, though they go about $100. If you were in the US, I would recommend Nutmeg for real ivory, since you can get them in the $150-200 range.

These are real ivory, but the ones on the Series 70 are still pretty white, which is how the faux ivory is going to look (unless you try TruIvory).

Nice Grips! Since Raj is a pal of mine and I have a set of PATRIOT grips that he did for me, I have to second the Eagle grips site. BTW, He has never heard of Tuner!

My daughter used to use bonded bone grips to do her scrimshaw work with. They are a poly composite with actual ivory dust mixed in, and except for the grain not being there, they appear to be real ivory. They will even attaina patina with time. Here are a pair she did for me several years ago. I probably have another pair or two laying around here that haven't been scrimmed yet. Let me know if you are interested in a pair.

Wow...

I was thinking to myself...c'mon, Mike, just get some basic uncheckered Walnut grips. Those will look nice enough, and won't be flashy.

But then you guys had to show me these pics.

John Forsyth's pistol is exactly how I think mine should look. Those are some damned nice looking grips.

Stiks....no way, man. No spiders on my grips. UGH.

Actually, that looks more like a tick, but I digress. LOL

Next question. Will any of these work with an ambidextrious safety?

Someone mentioned gunner grips. You mean these? Yeah, I saw those in SOF magazine, in an article about that Kimber pistol the Marines are using. They certainly do look grippy, but...eew. I'm sorry. They sure are functional, I'm sure, but if you're interested in faux Ivory grips functionality probably isn't your number one concern to begin with.

Some blue Ahrends I've since sold...
