thinking about ruining my crusader

Just aquired a .44 mag crusader from my father. Lusted after this gun since I was 18. Told him to give it to my brother since I had no use for an un-fired gun I shouldn't shoot. He told me to shoot it or sell it, my choice. If I shoot it that hurts the collector value but as it was a gift to him from my mother (now deceased) not sure I'd want to sell it. gun purchased in '77 at J.C. Penny's anchorage alaska. I'm torn, not much into collector guns. Any thoughts?

This was my first handgun back in about 1973:

The Marshall
A nine shot single action or double action revolver for .22 short, long, or long rifle cartridges. Aluminum frame. Offered in a special promotion package with a holster, trigger lock and spray can of G-96 gun scrubber. Listed in catalogs and price lists 1971-1973. To date shiments confrimed only in 1971.

caliber Barrel Grips Sights Finish Cat No. From Thru
.22 Short, long, Long rifle 5.50" Square butt stag style plastic Fixed Blue 9330 Jan 1971 Oct 1973

I sold it to finance an S&W 17. Still have the S&W but hated to sell the H.S. $70 was big money back then though. I've only seen one Marshall since then.
I do have an old H.S. Sentinel as my snake gun when I'm fishing. Those old High Standards bring back memories.

A H-S collection could be pretty big - they made a whooole lot of guns and not all handguns, either.

subsailor, You're not by any means going to ruin your Crusader by shooting it. It was made for a lifetime of shooting and enjoyment. Go shoot it and remember your father with every shot.

My grandfather has a High Standard HB that is and AWESOME pistol. If they still made them I would pick one up over a Ruger MK3 honestly. His has been very reliable and is a great quality pistol.

>>Don't forget the high Standard Olympic, a fine target pistol in 22 Short.<<

I'd love one of these, but they're going for huge bucks these days!

This one belongs to my 17yo daughter. We got it for her when she was 15.

When we visit the gun shop she always ends up looking at the oldest gun in the used gun case -- she's just drawn to the antiques for some reason.

I always thought no High Standard collection could be complete without one of these ....

Of course, that's the beginning, middle, and most likely end of my collection.
