As well as our redundant definition of a silencer, SBR, and SBS. The amendment would make AZ like many other states that simply defer to Federal law. The local papers are playing this up as a "confrontation with the feds" or a legalization, which it is not. This is not a nullification law.

Despite misunderstanding the law, I don't know why the same newspapers would consider redundant state law good for Firearms and bad for Immigration

Thanks for the update Mike! We just need to see how this new Governor acts. I'm hoping he will sign a lot of the pro defense/weapons bills being pushed forward.

The amendment was adopted 2/23 and is currently pending what we call COW Action in AZ (committee of the whole) which means it is now up for debate before the whole Senate. It's been through first and second reading and cleared both majority and minority committees (before the amendment).

I'm excited about HB 2509. It was vetoed by Brewer. It's repassed the house and just completed second reading in the Senate. It makes someone grabbing your gun aggravated assault (exempts police officers in line of duty). Right now someone grabbing your gun is no more serious than a punch in the nose.

We also have some preemption strengthening bills in motion. We have statewide preemption but it has no teeth.

In addition another bill vetoed by Brewer is in the works again. This would require any state or local government building have real security (at least metal detectors at every public entrance) before they can disarm visitors.
