Hello,

I replaced the front sight on my M&P with a Warren tactical trijicon sight. Sight works well as it replaced a shorter sight that put my shots very low from the target.

The issue I have is that the sight is loose and slides easily within the slots. Has anyone experienced the issue? Any recommendations on how to get the front sight to stay in place. I thought about putting on some red loctite on the sight.

TIA

Jerry

The divot usually works well. Sometimes two, a little in from each side works better. Dont get to crazy either. You just want to raise the bottom of the dovetail slightly to tighten things back up.

Sometimes just a little Loctite, all by itself, will do the job too.

If you replaced the front sight with a taller one, youre likely going to be even lower than you were before.

Did you replace it as a set meant to work together?

Ah ok. Now I understand how a divot works. Didn't figure on the mass displacement that is created on the outer edges of the divot.

Yes, I replaced them as a set. The taller sight works well, but then I noticed the front sight slipped to the left. I looked closely and noticed that I was able to move the front sight with my fingers.

On the loctite. Will blue work, or do you recommend red. I noticed that S&W tends to put red on some of their sights, which I think contributes to the difficulty in getting OEM sights adjusted. THX

I usually just use blue if I use it. If its really loose, Id just do the divot. If it takes a little effort to move it, the Loctite might work OK.

I agree with GDGray, I have a .50 cal. Hawken rifle that the front sight was lose enough you could move it with my fingers. I peened the bottom of the sight dovetail 3 times lightly with a prick punch and it tightened up nicely. hdbiker
