I've had my WASR 10 for about 3 years with no problems. Recently the retaining pin above the trigger (the one that holds the trigger in. I'm not sure what the correct name for it is) has come loose and keeps coming out while I'm shooting. It is fairly simple to push the pin back in but it keeps coming out. Has anyone had this problem before? How do I keep it from repeatedly coming back out? Thanks!

Yup. There's a crooked wire spring that wraps around those axis pins and drops into a groove in the big end of them to keep them from walking back out. Sometimes those springs get lost or not quite put back correctly when you're cleaning the gun.

An easier solution to the problem is a retainer plate (http://tapco.com/products/ak_modern/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=59) that installs easily in a second or two.

Another option is to replace the retainer spring and go with a set of e-clips. I've not had one fail yet.

Only downside is they are easy to lose. Cost is a non-issue, though, so they're cheap enough to keep a handful of extras handy...

If you're gonna jerry-rig the setup, at least offer something that won't tear up the fingers and won't need one or two to get somewhat of a tight fit.

Hitch pins work well, are easily installed (and removed) and don't require "stacking" like e-clips can for proper fit.

Take one of your pivot pins with you to the hardware store for hitch-pin fitting.

Best solution of all is to get a retainer plate or chinese-style L-wire retainer (which works just like the retainer plate, but is much cheaper).

I've had e-clips come loose twice on rifles and lock them up. I don't recommend them at all.

I have had good luck with hitch pin clips and the retaining plates work good too.

If you're going to use the standard retaining wire you have to route it correctly: hooks_all.jpg
