So I recently purchased a Tapco trigger for my WASR-10. Sounded easy enough - take out the original trigger and replace it with the Tapco.

However, I quickly discovered it was not so simple - I couldnt even get the pins out to remove the original trigger! I used a center punch and a hammer and a good deal of force, to no avail. Now Im not the most mechanically inclined individual on the planet, but Im pretty competant, so Im fairly certain I was trying to remove the right parts. Is there a secret to this, or do I just need to hit it harder (it as an AK varient after all)?

There will be a "wire" on the inside of your receiver (often attached to
where the safety pivots on the inside) or you might have a thin "plate"
instead of the wire. One or the other will be used and they run along
groves on the pins on the inside of the receiver. This is to keep the pins
from walking themselves out. Keep in mind the trigger pin also goes through
the sear. You may also have to push down on this a little to compress
a tiny spring between the sear and trigger as you tap out the pin.

In any case the retaining spring/plate must be removed first.
