I just bought a Lorcin 380 can anyone give me more info on lorcin 380. It is crome with black handle

i sincerely apologize. i dont mean to be rude but your money was better spent on a nice looking rock to keep those papers down. their part of the ring of fire im pretty sure.

You may want to try the site below. Lorcins are typically low priced and low quality firearms. Lorcin either went out of business or was bought-up by one of the companies listed on that site. I did own one of thier 9mm versions a long time ago and it functioned O.K. but it did have a tendancy to not chamber fully (I sometimes had to push the slide forward).

Welcome to THR NC!
If you have the right to return this gun, you should do so and purchase something more reliable.

Lorcin is one of many gun companies owned by one extended family of gunmakers (formerly called the "Ring of Fire" for their original locations circling Los Angeles.)

These companies stay in business and avoid civil lawsuits & creditors alike by routinely declaring bankruptcy and moving operations to other states. This is timed to stay ahead of all legal responsibilities.

Their guns are cheaply made of pot metal and cheap alloys. They are unreliable and inaccurate and fall within the description of "Saturday Night Specials".

While we promote responsible gun ownership and RKBA at this site, Lorcins are guns that fall into the group commonly considered "junk" and unreliable -which is much different than "inexpensive".

A lot of folks are now in the grave, because of the SNS. Just as dead if it had been a Walther PPK used on them. They are nice to take to the Police buy-backs. Not anything you would want to bet your life on. orchidhunter

Try here for a little less enthusiastic, but generally true, description of the group.

They aren't well regarded by those who can afford better. However, that entire diatribe set, to say the least, the levels of truth in reporting back about 50 years.

I own a Jennings J22, with a Black Teflon Finish, a Raven MP25 in Chrome, and a Davis P380, also in chrome. The Raven and the Jennings are clunky looking, and finicky about ammunition. They will, though, achieve just about 100% reliability when properly lubed, and fed ammo that they like. The Raven MP25 was even recommended by Massad Ayoob in his classes a couple of decades ago as a BUG for Police.

The Jennings J22 looks better, and has less problems with ammunition choices.

None of them will last 10,000 rounds. Period. None of them are examples of the gun-makers art. None of them would be my choice for a self-defense firearm. That said, I don't like the Glock for a self-defense firearm, either. For far different reasons, to be fair, but they won't be sitting on my hip, either.

IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY, there are better choices out there. That said, there are enough anti-gunners chanting about types of guns. They don't need any half-truths helping them.

If you spent less than $75 you did OK. You can get parts from www.e-gunparts.com or contact Cobra Enterprises. They currently produce a new version of the Lorcin .380. They call it the FS-380.

My Bryco .380 has NEVER failed to go bang when I pull the trigger and is VERY accurate. I wish I could say as much for the new Thompson (Kahr) 1911A1 GI I bought. I paid about five times as much for the Thompson (new) as I paid for the Bryco (new).

The Thompson is gone but I still carry the Bryco. Yes, I carry it for protection because it's so reliable. I won't however carry it with a round in the chamber.

Have fun and just watch out for cracks developing in the front of the slide. I think you can get a new slide from Cobra for about $40.

Also, only use FMJ and never use +P ammo.

JR47,
The information you are linking to is from early 2005, most of it is actually from 2004. Much has changed since then.

One of my best friends, shooting buddy and personal attorney was a litigation lawyer defending the "Ring of Fire" companies in Los Angeles. I know a bit about the inner workings of these companies and how they move assets thru bankruptcy to stay one-step ahead of everyone.

I am 100% for everyone to legally be able to buy firearms, no-matter what your economic means. Being poor should not be a punishment for being able to protect yourself.

I am against crappy guns and bad businesses which actually harm RKBA.

CWL, I'll be happy to believe that you possess "insider information". However, as these companies no longer exist as a family enterprise, you can link us to that information, right?
