My sincerest sympathies: My little dog Rita was diagnosed yesterday with a really bad arthritic left rear knee. She's ten and also has rapidly advancing heart disease in the form of a "murmur". An operation on the knee might kill her due to the heart issues. So happy holidays to me. To be honest I hate the holidays. I am almost 60 and I believe in Temporal and Eternal Punishment. I swear it seems like I'm paying for the sins of my youth. Rita is a much better soul than I.

I am very sorry. The passing of a loyal friend under such circumstances is a hard thing. AS others have said, forgive yourself, it is one of those things.

My condolences. At least you were able to end the suffering quickly. A lot of dogs (and humans) have much tougher ends from cancer etc.
