Hey all,

It's been a while since my last confession. I generally carry a glock 27, and absolutely love the gun. I shoot it as well as many of my full-size pistols, and spend too much of my range time firing it when I should be practicing with my other options.

Despite this, I am ashamed to admit that it doesn't get carried as often as I'd like because my attire doesn't allow it to be fully hidden. I've tried a Don Hume and a king tuck, but both seem to print just enough to make me weary. I'm not the type of guy that wears baggy clothes. My buddy let me check out a kel-tec, and despite a pretty weak trigger, it seemed OK. I also took a look at a Ruger LC9, which I really liked.

I know I won't fall in love with these guns like I did with my G27, but they are much thinner and I think I would be inclined to carry more. Any thoughts?

I have a LC9 as my "dressy" CCW. I carry it in a DeSantis pocket holster. It certainly hides well. It's surprisingly accurate, but not a range gun - the recoil is a bit uncomfortable, not uncontrollable, but harsh enough that a couple of magazines is enough. The trigger pull is just a few thousandths short of forever, but it is very consistent.

Mine has been absolutely reliable, but I don't tear it down and mess with it. I shoot it every month or so.

I'd rather carry my G30, but when I need thin the LC9 is a good choice. I don't feel undergunned with it. Mine came with the LaserMax, which I have since removed.

If you are not comfortable enough to carry your Glock 27 without changing your attire, then I would suggest finding something you are comfortable with. There are plenty of reliable single stack guns out there for you to find one you like. No gun does you any good if it gets left at home.

In no particular order:

Ruger LC9
Kahr has a whole line of single stacks
S&W Shield
Kel-Tec PF9
Walther PPS
Taurus 709
Officer 1911

I'm sure I have forgotten some, but that is off the top of my head.

I personally carry a Kahr CW9 and could not be happier with it. With two spare mags I have 22 rounds at my disposal.

I got a G26 for semi-daily carry a few years ago,but it was still bulkier and heavier than I usually cared to be dragging around. I eventually got a little 5-shot, aluminum framed S&W 642, and I love it. I can carry that little thing out walking in gym shorts. I sometimes forget forget I have it on me at all, and I usually prefer pocket-carry.
Sure,it ain't as sexy-cool as a Euro semi-auto, but it's more than sufficient for almost any realistic situation, especially since I'm more likely to actually have it with me ;).
Another plus, IMO, is the fact that it's inexpensive. In a case of self defense, I'd rather the cops take a gun like this, than what a lot of guys are dragging around with them, like a $900 Sig or $1300 Gold Cup.
I think this is a valid point worth factoring in.

Don't matter if its a 150.00 hi point or 8000.00 custom 1911. If it saves your hide its worth every penny. Lawyers are a heck of a lot more expensive than a gun anyhow.

Well no kidding, that's pretty obvious. I'm sure we'd all sacrifice a $50,000 antique, hierloom pistol if it meant the difference in us living or dying. The point I thought I was clearly making was: why put a high-value, favorite piece in a potentially vulnerable spot, when a perfectly functional but considerably less expensive alternative is readily available?
Ya get it now? :scrutiny:
