Nice revolver.

I like large diameter, slow moving bullet guns.

I have a 3" Lew Horton M624, a 4" M624, a 6-1/2 M624, and a M24-6.

The latter is part of the S&W Classic line of revolvers produced in the mid-2000's. Original Model 24's are about as hard to find as hen's teeth.

Ruger GP100 and Blackhawks are nice revolvers as wel chambered in 44 Special.

i bought a nickle colt single action 5.5" barrel in .44 special used in the late 70,s and it would not do better than 6" groups at 25 yards, i wanted that revolver to shoot so bad i could taste it. but to no avail, many reloads and factory ammo did not help. i sold it to a colt collector who said he didn,t care about the 6" groups. i wish i had sent back to colt to see if they could fix it.

I am a fan of the 44 special and don't even own one. I have 3 44 magnums that shoot it very well though. I bought the last one specifically to shoot 44 special.

My 1985 model 624's are so smooth and shoot worthy. They certainly don't make em like this today. I'm glad I am the proud owner of a piece of S&W revolver history. The 44 Special is truly Special!
Gotta admit, that 4" 624 is my #1 grail gun... and those antler stocks on ECV's example (with the grip adapter) are the crowning touch, and in the world's finest caliber .44 Special...I'm getting pretty long in the tooth now and have about given up on finding one...but ya never know...Rod Great pics guys....

I am with you all the way on 44 Special. I grew up reading Elmer Keith, Skitter Skeleton and latter on Sheriff Jim Wilson. There is nothing like a revolver that is specificity chambered for .44 Special. The tapered barrel of S&Ws is especially pleasing to my eyes and the way a 4” points and balance is like nothing. These two are my favorites. I would have to get pretty hungry to part with either. It would be hard to keep house without a good .44 Special revolver around. 6BA58CAB-8949-4BB0-BD01-2F63415F9838.jpeg 8CB4076F-AEFA-46D1-A461-64E1B84384E7.jpeg

That's almost exactly what people said in 1985 about their 1965 models. :)

The bottom gun in this picture is my 2001-ish Heritage model 24, with grips by the late Roy Fishpaw:

You have some very nice looking revolvers. Love the way case hardening looks.
