Nice! I love the 4” pencil barrel, that style barrel just looks right to me at 3”-4”.

My new-to-me 624 is a 6.5”, the 100 I put through it last week confirmed that I was right to pick it up.

Let us know how it shoots for you when you get a chance. :)

Stay safe.

My 6.5 is a dream for shooting. It's my woods gun

I should not have looked. I want a 44 Special SOOOO BADDD!

S&W Model 624's are out there and available. In about a year, from October 2016 to 2017, I found a 3" Lew Horton Model 624 44 Special, a 4" Model 624 and a 6-1/2" Model 624.

Of course, the recent years panic buying and shortages may make them a but harder to find at reasonable inventories and prices.

I'd like to get a Model 24 but they are as available as hen's teeth except for the Model 24 Classic models. I do have a Model 24-6 Classic with a 6-1/2" barrel purchased new in December, 2011. It is a nice shooter but does not have the fit and finish of earlier S&W revolvers.

This guy and snake are playing cards and we just slapped down a good hand.. snakes sweating. 50 down the pipe... 44 spec... HA!

When the Smith & Wesson 624s came out in the 1980s, I wanted one so bad. I was young man, not old enough to buy a handgun and no money to boot. I have owned a few 629s, the best was a 629-4 classic, with a 5” full lug barrel, I foolishly sold. I still have a 4” 629-4. Like it ok. I came across this no dash 4” 624, a few years ago. It was new in the box. I had a set of Culina black & white ebony grips made for it. I is my favorite big bore double action now day. There is just something special about a N frame Smith, with a 4” tapered barrel and a true 44 Special revolver. They just have s look like nothing else. This is one, I would have to be pretty hungry, to part with.

I have a Special 44 too.

Oh, dear. Very nice.
I am a .44 Special devotee myself. I have a couple .44 Magnums from my younger days, (a S&W and a Ruger) but they are less pleasant to shoot unless I load them 'down' and that seems pointless.
I do have an old and well used S&W revolver in .44 Special. I find it a bit large to conceal, but it is the house gun. And I shoot it for fun.

I didn't find out about the .44 Spl. cartridge until the 80s. I had no idea what an amazing cartridge it is. I also found a 696 when they first hit the shelves and will never ever sell it. I may only have 5 rounds but they ARE .44s.
