Just took the plunge and picked up an standard model FNX-45 in black with a stainless slide.
Love it!
This is exactly the kind of modern .45 platform I've been looking for!
Up until now, the only .45 I've owned is my grandfather's 1911 from WWII. Which is fantastic as a collectors piece and family heirloom. . . but doesn't really offer all the features a more modern pistol does.
I was initially skeptical of getting an FNX 45 because it has some online detractors. . . but after a LONG time researching it, I came to the conclusion it's just a very vocal minority that has anything bad to say about this pistol. So happy I did!!!
I've taken it to the range twice already since last week, zero malfunctions or failures of any kind. It's super-soft shooting. . . barely more recoil than a 9mm. . . and an incredible 15+1 rounds of .45 ACP will make a compelling argument in any situation!!!
The one downside I've found is the grip texturing is a little rough. I think it was designed to be shot with gloves on. So I ordered some Talon rubberized grips. They should be in soon, and hopefully that will address the only negative of the pistol I've managed to discover.
