At the range yesterday and its getting to early evening time. Sun is just about set and im getting ready to go home. I start thinking about this guy that was shooting an ak pistol I saw earlier. It being full daylight I was able to see an enormous fireball of a flash and very loud report. So I say to myself I wonder what the flash on my .45 is. So I chamber a round and fire shot and notice I have a very large flash in low light conditions. In the day I don't notice this. I was using a 185gr plated bullet over a full charge of Bullseye powder. So troubled I ask myself I wonder if there is a low flash powder for 9mm and .45 auto. And now I ask you.

BE-86 is said to be low flash. Alliant's data shows that it is similar to Unique in burn rate. I use Unique with good success in both 9mm and .45 Auto. 5.5gr and a 115 gr small ball and 6.0 gr with a 200 FRN respectively. I'll try BE-86 after I burn up the 5 lb or so of Unique I still have.

BE86 is an excellent low flash powder. Has a flash suppressant mixed in and is cleaner than Unique, meters better too. It is a snappy powder though, more so than Unique no matter what the burn rates say.

Winchester AutoComp also has flash suppressants.

In general, the faster burning powders tend to have less muzzle flash and report.

E.g. You will get more muzzle flash with a max load of Power Pistol vs Bullseye. (More velocity, too, of course.)
