i have a springfield TRP with low profile adjustable rear sights...i have 2 problems:

1) the 2 pins in the sight (see picture) keep slowly working their way out durring shooting..at first it was like 200 rounds and they came out a little...now 50 rounds and they are like 1/4 the way out...any of you guys have sights like these? do you have the same problem? are thier any quick fixes?

2) im a little upset with springfield...when i first got the gun mags were getting stuck in the gun and the mag release was very sticky...i took it apart and found a glop of the finish that had got into the parts..i cleaned it and now its fine...i just think for a 1400 dollar gun they should have better quality control...anyway the other thing that made it past quality controll is the rear sight is way off center in the cutout notch (see picture)...now i have to crank the sight way to the right to sight it in...it looks crooked as hell and again im anal about my 1400 doller gun...my question is can i carfully tap over the whole sight asembly to center it...or is there a pin or a screw that holds it in place the i need to disasemble the sight to get to?

I know i could send it back to springfield to have them fix the sight for free but i dont want to have to mess with shipping and all that bs...

I feel your pain:mad: My Loaded fullsize came with a very sloppy barrel bushing, I fitted a EGW bushing, and the gun groups great(NOW)! The sight may have a set screw, but it should move to center with a tap from a hammer and brass punch. The sight pin needs a little bend put in it, my ruger .22 did the same thing, take it out and tap it in the middle with a punch over a piece of wood. I didn't pay what you did, but these guns should be ready to go. SA has a great warranty, just dont want to use it from the get go! Beautifull gun, by the way.

If the rear sight is a faithful copy of the Bomar it looks like, it will have one or two set screws down through the dovetail. Take the elevation screw clear out being careful not to lose the spring(s) under the leaf and raise the leaf. Loosen the set screw(s), tap the sight to the center of the dovetail in the slide, tighten the set screw(s), lower the leaf, and put the elevation screw back in.

I can think of some approaches to the pins walking out. You could apply a LITTLE Loctite to the end of the pivot pin where it protruded and tap it back into line.
Or you could either grab the end of the pin in serrated pliers and apply a hard grip to form some burrs or take it clear out, put the end on a steel block and whack it with a steel hammer to "ovalize" it a little. Then tap the pin back in with the deformed end to keep it tight. Or put a little curve in it per JD.

You could apply either treatment to the little pin that "clicks" the windage adjustment, but it would have to come all the way out and you would have to be very careful if you used Loctite so as to not get it on the moving parts.

wow..thx guys for the great advice, i cant wait to get home and fix he problem..and then it will give me an excuse to shoot because ill need to resight it in...
