The first time I ever shot a BP revolver the gun started "locking up" after 10-12 rounds (difficult to pull the hammer back and such, fouling I guess).

The second time (about 2 weeks ago, I am brand new to this) I used some "Yoke-Ox" Lubed Wads and got 30 rounds thru my 1851 Colt Navy before it even started to be hard to pull back the hammer... and even then, it still wasn't terribly hard.

I am totally sold on these things!!! Just wanted to share if anyone didn't know about these things.

I also bought some "Bore Butter" but haven't used it yet.

In my experience, Crisco works even better. I put 40+ rounds through my Walker yesterday and it was still turning just fine. Another product I have tried is Ayer's Pistol Grease, it works great, but is hard to find.

I put synthetic transmission fluid on the cylinder pin on my Remington and the arbor of my Colts. No more problems from the action locking up after several cylinders.
