I started saving for a SWD M-11, I'm going to start with a suppressor to get me in the NFA crowd and then go for the SMG. I really want to buy as good of a model as possible. I have read that 86' models are really sketchy so I'll be patient, but I was wondering if any NIB models still exist, and how much. If not What would a LNiB model run? I plan on getting a LAGE upper afterwards and don't plan on competing but just want to get one before these become financially unatainable. I would really like an UZI or an M16 but that is beyond my finances for a couple more years. When my wife graduates then I"ll get something nice.

What about suppressors? I want to buy a high quality model in 9mm. What would be a good model to buy? One that I can clean. Is there one that would work on an SMG, but also work on one of my Glocks?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to all this.

Gemtech Multi Mount is 1 of your better options, but for the most part silencers that work on pistols (i.e. have pistons) are not designed for extensive SMG use however there are a differant ones that will hand it just dont spend the next 5 years doing mag dumps with the pistol can on it.

but I was wondering if any NIB models still exist

Yes, and quite a lot (relatively speaking, of course) of them.

I browse around on various WTS boards, and it seems like half of the MAC-style guns I see are NIB.

They typically run a few hundred more than a used model.

If you get an M11 and decide to run the stock magwell/mags, contact recon ordnance for good steel mags at a good price. The Zytel cobray ones are crap.

IMO>

There's really no need for a "starter" NFA item. Get which ever you want most, and can afford, first. I bought a YHM Phantom 5.56 can as my "starter" item bc it was relatively inexpensive but now realize I should have just started with what i really wanted. Its a good can but i've found silencing a 5.56 is much less fun than other NFA items.
