The gun is an M4 copy in .22lr for those who don't know it personally.
Im doing my best to only put needed accessories on it and not make people look for a gun under all the gadgets.
Mines a flat top and i took the iron sights off as i have 2 scopes mounted off a 1" riser.
BSA 3-9x40 illuminated scope which is amazing imo,and a tiny Bushnell red dot TRS-25 mounted on the right side of that riser so i can just twist the gun and keep my cheek weld in place and open both eyes for close and possibly moving targets.

I took a few pics of the setup as we all like pics, plus it will show the scope positions which can be important in what you suggest.

Both scopes have the covers on so you don't think the lens on the BSA looks so bad.

Im looking at 2 items, A cheek weld piece and maybe a rail cover.
These 2 are one options:

But i feel this one maybe be better since ill be rotating the gun slightly to use the red dot.

This is a bit more but fully adjustable. This seems to be an important item for shooting for accuracy so i don't mind the price if its worth it.

I thought about these for comfort while supporting the front stock, I dont like vertical grips.

If you dont like either cheek piece you can suggest one as long as it works with my current stock and isn't over $50
Also tell me if the rail covers are a waste of my time?

Anyone have a suggestion? I even did pics just for this so people would be more inclined to help.

i'm not aware of any good cheek pieces because they interfere with the CH on 223. since 22lr doesn't pull back very far, you might be able to tape something on there

Wouldnt this one not interfere? I do understand your objection to most as my stock would be collapsed most times and most would block that handle.

I just did a check on the gun and the charging handle only comes back to cover 1" of the stock when collapsed. It still would make a few harder to use as you said, But just a pain to use not impossible.

Is it something i should just not worry about and get used to laying my face on the tube?

Those rail covers should help nicely without bulking up the foregrip.

I would personally just get used to using the butt as is, but if I were going to try one it would be the 2nd one you showed. For CQB style shooting with my 15-22, I like having the stock all the way in and my cheek weld falls naturally to a high enough position. For longer shooting ranges with the stock extended, I did have some trouble getting used to a good position at first so I can see why you're looking for something.

Im leaving for the range in an hour, That should give me a good idea of how well the tube alone works. Or if i need an additional support piece so i can guide myself into position correctly and easily. So ill place any orders after my range trip.

What ever it is i think something that lays flat on the tube will be best since ill be rotating the gun maybe 15 degree's when using the red dot, If a higher cheek piece is used it may really throw off that rotation and make my eye line of sight with the red dot way off.

I think the rail covers will be a nice comfort item that doesn't stand out and look like more junk on the gun.

Im also taking the receipt and packaging on the BSA illuminated 3-9x40 main scope to return it if it doesn't work well, Its only a .22lr so if it wont hold zero that is a really bad sign. I say this after ready peoples opinions on BSA, As i have no experience with them but the scope looks very well made imo.

so i can just twist the gun and keep my cheek weld in place
This is a contradiction in terms.

Lose the riser and the red dot, and get that scope at the proper height so you actually have a tight fit....when you shoulder the gun with your eyes closed, you should feel comfortable and open your eye, and be staring down the scope.

Edit to add: if you want the red dot, you can still mount in on the side of the forward rail....but all that weight on one side will mess with your shooting.

With no riser the scope is too low and does block the charging handle, Its a really bad fit and i cant see crap from it at that low level.
This isnt just me, I see most flat tops with a riser for better positioning.
Would you tell people to take off their handles with added picatinny rails and red dots attached and tell them to mount the sight on the low flat top? Why do ACOG's have built in risers? Im just saying i feel their is no issue with my mounting and placing of the scope and sight.
As for the Red dot its staying, And the gun being twisted on axis with my cheek weld still in place to use that sight is no issue.

If it works, fine. It's your face...i haven't seen it, so you know better!
..it just looks too high to me from that picture. If it were, higher rings and no riser would make it fit better.

A cheek-weld is just that. If you're moving your head at all to see through the other scope, that is not much of a weld....and if you can see through that reddot, then your scope is too high, since the reddot is at least half an inch lower.

It'll work, i'm just sayin it could work better....I'd rather have a gun that does one thing great than two things mediocre.

The setup has all changed.
I took the riser off and moved the red dot to the other side and its inline with the scope side by side.
Its been a mess setting this up, Look for my other thread in this section with all the details.
