I'm considering buying a M&P 22 pistol. How does the trigger compare to the trigger in the full size 9/40 pistols?

Also, have you noticed your centerfire skills improving after shooting a 22 pistol for training?

I have a M&P22 along with the 9 and .40. It's a good comparison all the way around. The 22 trigger, to me, has a better feel(not as gritty) as the others with similar pull. After a couple of APEX kits they are all pretty close.

I found that the 22 helped my accuracy with the others immensely.

While they can be related questions, I'm going to answer them as separate ones...given my answer to the first

I don't think it compares at all.

The M&P22 isn't a M&P9/40 with a .22lr upper conversion kit. It is a completely different pistol...made by Umarex...dress in M&P9/40 clothing. Its action includes a hammer and firing pin hidden in the slide

I have a .22lr conversion on my SIG 226...and have used them on the 1911 and CZ platforms...that I use for teaching. I think a .22lr conversion is one of the better buys to help improve your familiarity with the controls and trigger of a CF pistol. It will help you develop skills/techniques... at a fraction of the cost of CF ammo...that a dedicated .22lr platform just can't

This I knew, I didn't know if they were able to fake the funk and get the trigger to feel close.

Regarding the conversion, last I heard we were waiting for them to come out for the M&P.

I have an M&P22 and shoot it often. The trigger is better than the one on my M&P9. Take up is short, smooth and light. It breaks nice and clean, without much weight or over travel. Reset is distinctive and short. Really it's a great trigger. It should be, it's a single action trigger.

Yes definitely. The only thing it is lacking is a stronger recoil impulse. My skills improve the most after dry practice. Shooting is mainly to prove my skill.

It's a great trainer as it's a full size pistol unlike some other popular semi-auto .22s. Even though it's actually hammer fired, the trigger is close enough in my opinion, however I've never shot an M&P, but shoot Glocks often. The threaded barrel is also a nice bonus.
