I was thinking about getting a M&P 45 FS and then I ask the LGS associate if I could look at the XDM 45 4.5. I loved the way the XDM felt in my hand, better than the M&P to be truthful (the grip is little longer and I have large hands)

I have shot the M&P 45 before but will try the XDM next time at the range. I never thought I would own an XDM, not sure I like the grip safety and not sure about it being made in Croatia.

What are your thoughts on these 2 guns.

Just a suggestion, but most with proletarian hands would look at Glock 21.

The M&P45 is the softest recoiling .45 I have ever shot, allowing to me to get back on target faster. The XD, in .45, had a bit more muzzle flip...granted I've only shot the XDm in 9mm and .40.

What is your concern about the grip safety on the XDm?
It is very different from the ones on the 1911...I consider it's placement and size more user friendly when establishing a firing grip.

What is it about Croatian firearms production that makes you unsure?
HS Produkt, originally founded as IM Metal, has existed since 1990 after the establishment of the democratic Republic of Croatia. As of 2011, they are the only company in the world besides Glock that produces over 100,000 pistols a year

I'm sure it works fine, I am just not sure I would like it since, I would probably just need to get used to it. I like the idea though.

I'm not familiar with much of anything made in Crotia. I never thought of it as being an engineering power like Germany. I'm not saying it's inferior, just I'm unfamiliar.

When I picked up my first HS2000, the forerunner of the XD, I didn't notice the grip safety at all. It is not as grip sensitive as the one on a 1911 and doesn't have a speedpad.

The HS 2000 is the issue sidearm of the Croatian military and police

M&P all the way....... Manufactured in the USA........ Keeping vital jobs HERE

Feeding an American family, vs a Croation family

I love my M&P45C

I love my M&P 45c too. You probably have smaller hands than I do.
If you have and like the 45C I am curious as to why you want a full size, unless you are just looking to add to the collection

With the mag extenders, the 45C is close enough to the full size to not buy the full size.

I am hoping that Smith comes out with a Shield in 45....

Hand size?

XDm has a higher center of gavity and thus more of a muzzle flip than the M&P. However, if the XDm fits the hand better then you should get that one.
