I've got the fullest size M&P (M&P 9L) and a Glock 17 Gen4 (used to have a Gen2).
For me, though both are reliable and capable guns, the M&P just feels, points, and shoots better for me. Granted, I've got a full Apex kit in the M&P and while I've got some aftermarket parts in the Glock - I haven't put the same amount of effort into making it mine. I've also shot the M&P a lot more (about 12,000 rounds through the M&P vs about 1,500 for the Glock).
Still - there's a reason I've shot the the M&P so much more than the Glock, and it mostly just comes down the fact that I like it more.
