I’ve had my M&P 40 compact 1.0 for ten years.
Two years ago I bought an extra slide that I sent away last month to be milled for a red dot and nitrited by DP Custom Works. It came back early so it’s a complete rebuild as I decided it was time to replace the springs as preventive maintenance.
I installed taller night sights to co-witness with the dot. A sealing plate, Duracell battery, and loctite to the screws on the RMR and it should be good for a long time.
I had installed the Apex trigger and sear several years ago and liked it.
Pulled everything out of the frame and replaced all the springs. I also put new solid pins in the frame.
I was a little hesitant to do all of this in one evening. But it went pretty smoothly. I had a little trouble with the trigger pin and with installing the sear block with the trigger bar inserted. But I got it.
I was surprised by how clean the inside of the frame was with all the parts removed; I must be doing something right.
A new extractor, pin, and spring in the slide. Also replaced the spring for the striker block.
Apex Precision makes good parts like the trigger and sear; I ordered new springs from them and from Midwest Gunworks. Apex also has great videos showing how to do all of this.
I also got a 9mm conversion barrel. So now this one handgun can shoot 9mm/40 cal/357Sig. Looking forward to taking it to the range and testing out my work and the new RMR.
